Hmm, I wanna do something special for my DSing Gks, I thought about using assault marines backpacks for them, do you think this is legal, looks goods and most importantly fits?
You can convert them how you like but by giving them jump packs people will expect them to behave as jump infantry, so not a good idea. Also, Grey Knights deepstrike using Teleporters so they don't really need any converting. Maybe you could add a little gizmo to their armour to represent the teleport device?
MAybe if you use somewhat modified jump pakcs it would be viable, but GK's with standard jump pakcs looks to confusing for me. maybe get some of theSeraphim jump packs, sinds with a little paint job and maybe a smal conversion they won't look like jump ifantry if given to GK's.
'Thou shalt not refer to the Adeptus Soritas as "Bolter Bitches" nor shalt thou go anywhere near our sisters during the time of the "Red Rage," lest thou wishes to be the first human to enter orbit without the aid of a shuttle.'
As was mentioned, GK don't literally "jump" or anything like that, they Teleport in. And you'll likely give the impression to your foes that the GK can move like jump troops, which isn't very nice (and violates WYSIWYG).
I'm not even sure if the standard SM packs will fit nicely onto GK models - their arms are in all kinds of crazy poses, remember. If you really wanted to do this, you could use *just* Justicars, as their pose makes them look "jumpy" and sword arm makes them less likely to interfere with the pack's placement.
Related idea, and something I'm working on: Converting a squad of Justicars with packs to represent a unit of allied Seraphim. I know it's a bit off, but I don't like the look of SoB in general, despite loving the mechanics of Seraphim. So while the Jump-GK don't actually have NFW/stormbolters (bolt, inferno, or flame pistols), they still look right for the army.
GKs and standard jump packs are going to cause confusion, but there is a conversion that might be fun. Using the drop packs from Forge World for the IG drop troops. As I understand it they are for jumping from their Thunderhawk-type aircraft. So once you land, you move normally. If you did this you could assume your GKs are dropping from Inquisitorial Thunderhawks and not deep striking. Of course they land in a tight circle which would be a tad strange.
As we've already stated in this thread, that's not the case. They teleport in. Not jump, not drop, not burrow, not nonchalantly walk over. So it would make even less sense to use drop packs. As I understand it they are for jumping from their Thunderhawk-type aircraft.
Um yeah, I think the poster knew that, he was just saying you could say they did this instead. No need to get all righteus and hidebound about it.Originally Posted by mEGALOMANIAC
