Seems like a good combo to me.I'm considering using them and infiltrating vet squads w/lascannons in my next list.
I actually find they hold objectives well. as long as you can keep them out of LOS. just walk them (or deepstrike them) on an objective and keep the lil guy out of trouble.Originally Posted by Odetothesun
as for using them aggresivly via deepstrike. there's a couple things you can do.
1. deepstrike HeavyFlamer. this is a fun use of sentinel. works wonders on anything w/ a 4+ save or worse. but expect your sentinel to die the next turn.
2. deepstrike multiaser. cheap and effective. you can drop them behind armor and hit the AV10 backsides or go after flanking troops. or just take objectives.
3. Lascannon (& HKmissle). the great thing about walkers is that they can move and fire 2 weapons of any strength. the turn you come in, unlesh on side armor (or rear) and you stand a good chance of causing some damage. but i personally prefer to be a lil more conservative with my Lascannons. i prefer staying back and walking.
4. Autocannon (&HKmissles). this is actually a really good setup for hitting side/rear armor. since you get 3 medium/high str shots, you're probably gonna hit something.
just realize that what ever you deepstrike, will probably die. don't waste them
I like the deep striking heavy flamer sentinel too. I once used three of them against another guard player and I dropped all three of them in the middle of his lines, just to see if I could do it. Miraculously, not a single one of them scattered.
I was able to roast two heavy weapons squads and a veteran squad with them, so they seriously earned their points back.
I would caution, however, to not be so reckless with your own sentinels. If you see a good opportunity to flame something worth a lot of points, then go for it, but if not, then try to hold a table quarter with them or something.
I havn't used them in battle yet, but my Elysian Sentinels can take Multi-Meltas, perfect for deep-striking and sniping the rear of a tank.
Sounds like I'm going to have to pick up the rules for Elysians.I was going to order the grav chutes from Forgeworld for a few units and convert my Sentinels to look a little more like the Elysian ones, but now that I hear about the M&M version, maybe I need the real thing.
Keeping them out of LOS isn't easy. I do agree that if a squad of stormtroopers and the sentinal working together really holds a line or objective really well.I actually find they hold objectives well. as long as you can keep them out of LOS. just walk them (or deepstrike them) on an objective and keep the lil guy out of trouble.
And I thought the Elysians rules were no longer legal?
Elysian rule have just been re released in Taros book from forgeworld
I got the MM version, it is excelent

The Elysians list does have drawbacks, like the limited heavy weapons team numbers, inability to attach HW teams into squads, no Lascannon teams, Sentinels can only take Multi-Melta or Heavy Bolter, etc...Originally Posted by BoxANT
OTOH, everything in the entire list can Deep Strike
