According to my numbers, sharpshooters have a 66.5% chance of hitting what they're shooting at.
I don't want to go through all the numbers because it may give away some of the super secret copywrited rules, but if anyone comes up with something different, let me know.
If I'm not making a mistake, that's a better hit number than veterans.
I think your math is off.
Normal Guardsman hit 50% of time. With Sharpshooter, you gain another 8.3%. So 58% of the time. I could be wrong since I don't recall exactly what it does.
Dreams give us a vision of a world unlike any we have seen. They present us with a glimpse of a better life; a goal to aspire to, and in the face of insurmountable odds, they provide us with the power to overcome, to live on, and to succeed where we would have otherwise failed.
Round that up to 60% and you've got a really good chance of getting pot shots off.
But in reality we all know that that 58% is more realistic.

100/6=~16,6% chance of rolling a one. Now, with 16,6% of your shots getting rerolled at BS3, you'll hit half of these. So a 8.3% increase in chance to hit.
I was looking at it a little differently.
Now,my statistics isn't what it could be,but a sharpshooter misses half of the time, has a 1/3 chance of rerolling a miss and that reroll will hit half of the time.
1/2 of 1/3=1/6=16.7%of misses that become hits
Ooooh!The sharpshooter only has a 50%chance of missing,though!
Okay,back to 8.3%,sorry,my bad
Without sharpshooters, you have 6/12 chance to hit. With it 1/6 time you will have another 1/2 chance, so with sharpshooters the chance to hit is 7/12.
That is why I have called BS 3.1/3!

Actually it's about 3.5
Check out the math on the new post under Sharpshooters and MATH.
The guy made it clear and simple and easy to follow. A sharpshooter is basically a BS 3.5
yup SS = 58%, 7/12, BS3.5
but basically it's only worth it on support squads.
if you do the math of 6 SS squads vs 7normal squads. your firepower isn't any greater. that is to say 6squads of SS will do about the same damage as 7normal squads.
however, 7 normal squads gives you 10 more men and thus another scoring unit. quanity over quality.
I made the calcs earlier, but I doubt many of you read that thread, so here they are again.Originally Posted by BoxANTOriginally Posted by Kaiser
