What is an effective way to take on an eldar army with my Deathwing Termies, they always get shot to pieces by those accursed Star cannons. I've tried using cover and what not, deepstriking works but i'm not alwyas able to do it. i need an effective way to take on eldar with My terms.
FOR THE LION
cyclone missule launcher. starcannons have a range of 24
just have half the termie squads with missule launchers in the first two turns kill everything that has a starcannon and the next just kill the rest
Um, starcannons have a 36" range... And the thing carrying the starcannon will most likely be behind cover, with only the starcannon showing and a couple of guardians for LOS. And then there's falcons, which your missiles can't touch.Originally Posted by killer panda
Termies Vs Eldar is very hard, since the Eldar have so many things that can deny you that 2+ save. But if you have to play against them, your missiles do outrange the starcannon and brightlance by 12". Use that to your advantage.
Dreams give us a vision of a world unlike any we have seen. They present us with a glimpse of a better life; a goal to aspire to, and in the face of insurmountable odds, they provide us with the power to overcome, to live on, and to succeed where we would have otherwise failed.
Hmm, DW do struggle against Eldar, but it does really depend on which Eldar army he is using, do you know?
A little tip is if he plays Ulthwé, use a Librarian (most Deathwing players use one anyway) to nullify his psychic powers. This is extremely annoying and i hate it when people use it against me.
Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
every army has a very big weakness.. Deathwing really dont stand much of a chance against a good eldar army unfortunately
If the guy is using Falcon Wing (Ie 2 falcons in 1500 + starcannon guardians + farseers for guide) then you've pretty much lost already
I advise using the stall tactic, IE you choose to go LAST if you win and then deep strike as much as you can
This way your opponent wastes 2 turns and he only has 4 to kill you with heh while you hopefully kill the non-falcons.. Best advice i have for you
As a deathwing player I'll tell you what I do. I use an LRC and smoke ... one assault squad inside with heavy flamers followed up table by a CML squad then bring in squads ( two ) with teleport homers all around for one more assault cannon squad and one more CML squad. My squads are always five or six each. I also drop pod dreads ( now depends how many points - so either one or two)
I NEVER deep strike anymore. We have teleport homers and drop pods now. They are your friends. Use them.
as a death wing player, the eldar are one of the few occasions where deepstriking of some form or other is a possibility, but it really does depend on which Eldar army he uses.
as for the use of LRC, anyone who puts AV14 vehicles in front of bright lances deserves all he gets
