    shotgun help

    why do scouts have the option to takeshot guns. who would use these retatared waepons in a spacemarine army?

    they look cool?
    that's about the only reason to take a shotgun over a bp/ccw. the *only* redeaming feature is that they'll hit on a 3+ ... but the crappy Str makes that kinda pointless. shotguns are for guardsmen.

    all i know is that the new plastic scouts that are in the works come with shotguns w00t my IG are gettin' come cool shotguns!

    Because GW makes the models, I believe. Or because they were too lazy to take it out of the weapons, I don't really know, but next time, use the Search button, this has been discussed a decent amount of times before.

    there assualt 2 is the only reason to take them. So infutrate to 12 inches. Move 6" shoot twice, assault first turn. this would be very terrain dictated. And would prob require a good move though cover roll (cover is the only way I can see getting the 12" starting distance). might be nice againts someone dev squads or such or maybe a whirlwind or baskilisk(sp) with kraks.

    Can't assault first turn.

    You must infiltrate OVER 18" away when within LOS. So. 18.000000000001" is still over, so you can't assault.

    yeah thats why you hide on the other side of trees. They can't see thou trees. and hope for a good roll on the dif. terrain test. But since there scouts you get 3 dice. And why I said its very terrain dictated!!!

    Well, I know about twelve years ago the shotgun had a small template, or you could have it shoot a slug which had higher strength if you wanted it to.

    I think that they look really cool. A friend of mine tired them out against tyranids and they did decently, although he would have done better giving his scouts bolters.

    1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant

    2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers

    3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
