I keep seeing space marine armies putting plasma cannons on their dreads. However I looked at my 4th edition space marine codex and it says nothing about a plasma Cannon option. Can someone please clear this up for me before I go mad
W-1 L-0 D-0
Dark Angels and Chaos Space Marines can.
Anyone else can't.
I believe that's pretty much it.
W-1 L-0 D-0
And Grey Knights.
Not that anyone does it...
A man's at odds to know his mind, for his mind is aught he has to know it with.
In the DA codex, it allows for a plasma cannon to be taken on a dreadnaught. Well, this is in the FAQ from the website.
Hive Fleet Fuzzy Bunny: Lots and lots of points of Nids (4000pts+)
The Chapter of the Damned: 5500pts of Dark Angels
The Children of Fulgrim: 5-6000pts of Emperors Children
The Kabal of the Bloodied Claw: 2000pts of Dark Eldar
Think of the new SM codex as a blessing.. No longer are people "wowd" by ineffective weapons such as the plasma cannon :p Now you can get the better assault cannon and save points on not being tempted to buy a plasma cannon
And not to forget the Space Wolves with their BS2 Venerable Dreadnought
Edit: BS5, 2+ to hit, silly me

I thought it was BS5?Originally Posted by Dragonslayer

I really hate that they limited the new Dreadnoughts wepons options, and yes the new assault cannon is great but I would still like the option to take a wider range of wepons.Originally Posted by Kirasu
Games Workshop cutting things out of codices to "save me from myself" point-wise is alot like the goverment taking your money from you to 'save you from yourself'. So NO this is not a good thing.
And why would you take a damn Plasma cannon over a multi-melta (which is in the codex)!!!!

Don't compare the two; multi-meltas are primarily anty tank weapons, while plasma cannons are good against heavy infantry...
