I had to get this out because every1 thinks the DC are so cheap, and yes they are pretty damn good but they have disadvantages. ok everyone they ARE NOT FREE, the cost of them is w/e the came from, which could be good and could be bad. for example a 13 point scout could turn or a termie, which seems to happen more often then not, or a 38 point honour guard member. just something to think about
As a BA player I totally understand where you're comming from. However for some BA armies(like mine) that dont use Termies or other expensive units they are big bonuses. If a chaplain is in your army you gain D3+3 Death Company models ,plus the ones you roll for in your sqauds, which means a max of 6 DC models at the begining. For math purposes we will say that each model costs 30 points(BP,CC weapon, frags, jump pack, and codex abilities). That comes out to a max of 180pts of free models at the begining of the game. Plus the chaplain goes with them and when given a powerfist or thunder hammer instead of the crozius he can be an absolute nightmare in close combat. To counter the DC from taking stuff from my devastator sqaud, I put 2 normal marines in the sqaud with bolt pistols and CC weapons. Not only does this prevent any of my weapons from being taken (unless i roll two 6's in a row) but it also gives a the squad a better chance in close combat. If a normal marine with a bolter gets taken sure you loose 15 points but you gain a 30 point model. Sometimes it can be a pain and bring dwon ur sqauds strength but when a Death company of 6 with Chaplain takes out two 8 man tactical squads, a Chaos dread, and an Obliterator in the same game, you suddenly realize that maybe loosing one terminator was worth it.

First off of course the Death Company has disadvantages, doesnt everything?Yes Death Company are a pain when it comes to Terminator Squads but thats all.How can you complain about the Death Company?I mean when a model goes to Death Company they get a FREE jump pack and FREE terminator honours and the FREE feel no pain special rule,is there anything else i forgot?Oh yes they ae also fearless. So you are getting like a 60 point model for whatever sucumbes to it (The Death Company). They are WELL worth the loss.
And, as my opponents never seem to understand, Blood Angels chaplains are more expensive than other chapters. So really, you're getting anywhere from 4-6 models for 110 extra points on the Chaplain. But no, my opponents don't realise this and continue to ***** and moan about it.
Only because Death Company kick so much ass.
I really like the Death company, rule wise and story wise, but most people think that your getting a whole squad for free. And lets face it some Blood Angel players are pretty damn proud about there "free" company of death.
I really cant think of any other army, space marine or not, that has rules like the death company. Thats why alot of people hate it, because they cant do it to.
The guilty laugh while the innocent suffer.............WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!!!
You dont get them for free but you get them for a hell of alot cheaper than what they are worth!Their abilities and spectacular and are well worth the points. And for the Chaplain, yes he is more expensive by 110 points but basically for that 110 points you are getting D3+3 DC,that means you could have up to six DC for 110 points! Now someone say that that isnt worth it.
speaking of which wasn't there an entire DC army list? whatever happened to that?
Yes i believe there was,try doing a search on it and im sure youll find something regarding an al Death Company army.
A quick question about DC: Do units in reserve (ie Deepstriking Termies) count when rolling for Death Company?
Hive Fleet Fuzzy Bunny: Lots and lots of points of Nids (4000pts+)
The Chapter of the Damned: 5500pts of Dark Angels
The Children of Fulgrim: 5-6000pts of Emperors Children
The Kabal of the Bloodied Claw: 2000pts of Dark Eldar
I have the DC army list on PDF somwhere if anyone wants it still. Just post your addy if you do.
