Some people mentioned that Commissars are useless...
Can I get a few reasons for this criticism?
Can I also get some reasons for why they are great.
Commissars have a purpose and can be usefull, the real question is are they usefull for the point cost the model.
Commissars: Can increase the leadership of the squad they are in, or your whole army ( I know this is up for debate, regarding Vox transmission, but that is the side i'm on )
Can give your Command a needed CC punch.
Can make a mob of Conscripts not run away. ( Independant Commissars )
The problem is they are usually a min of 50pts tooled out. This may seem low for a Marine player who can have a 200pt Libriarian, but for IG it is expensive for his stats, and the alternative models to spend it on. If they were 2/3 of their pt cost, I would definatly use them more.
Would you rather have an autocannon Sentinal, or a Commissar?

I have a tricked out powerfist commiser, and along with a treicked out powerfist officer, he is soooo worth his points. Those two held out alone for 5 turns agaainst 3 ork mobs, with maybe 50-100 boyz in them, killing em all! (d6+I, I love that!)
Wow.... you must be very lucky....
Aside from Yarrick or Kell, the commissars are the best cc model we can take. Here's the rub, though: they are also the third most expensive (behind the SO and HSO). Oh, and here's the other rub: they still kinda suck in cc. S3 and T3 won't take you very far in the MEQ world we live in, so you have to give him a powerfist. But now he's slower and waay more expensive, and on top of that he still can't insta-kill an MEQ character. The leadership bonus is nice, but is it worth all the point he'll eat up? I say only when he's leading a platoon of conscripts, personally (31 model for just under 200 pts can work wonders).

looks like someone doesn't know that a ork mob with 12+ boyz wont run.Originally Posted by omegoku
as for commissars, i personally don't think they're worth the points. unless, they're in a conscript platoon.
i cant really think of any down sides to commisars apart from the whole murdering the commander if they run thing, but besides that they are great, ld 10 !, just give a large group of conscripts a commisar and charge them into the nearest most deadly unit you can see, not a lot of things are going to beat 40 conscripts in less than 3 goes
Commisars are mainly used for disipline but are to expesive
