Quick question, everybody:
Would it be possible for one Space Marine Chapter to steal a vehicle (in this case a Land Raider Crusader) from another Chapter and make it their own?
I wonder about the machine spirit and how cooperative it would be. Other than that, I really don't see why it wouldn't work.
Feasible or no?
Why would you want to steal it anyway. A LRC is a standard vehicle for all chapters now anyway. As to the Machine Spirit, I don't see why not. It is still serving the Emperor and the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Lack of resources (okay, I thought they were rarer). Anywho, that's all I needed.
I don't think they that Space Marines would indulge in any "transfer of ownership" but if you want a fluffy reason for using one in your force then you could claim salvage rights. Perhaps you retrieved one from a battlefield involving multiple Space Marine Chapters and repaired it for your own use. The other Chapters may not have had the resources to repair it at the time or maybe the Chapter it originally belonged to had lost that entire detachment so weren't able to salvage it themselves.

fluffwise it does but with the new codex you can get 3 LRC in one FOC
Don´t mess with the dicegod
There is an actual precendent in the fluff for chapters exchanging equipment. For example, I remember reading one story in the old Space Hulk rulebook which described one member of a BA Termie squad wearing a borrowed UM termie suit. He still wore the original blue color, because every owner that tried to paint it as a BA died. They attributed this to an act which was an affront to the armor spirits, so he kept it blue. So I would say that you could use it, but don't paint it the same color

Indiana: It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage.
For the last time, there are
NO FEMALE SPACE MARINES!!!!!
While most Space Marines dont have the same reptation for " lootin' " as the orks do ( imagine a space marine looted Eldar Falcon.).
On the subject of a paint job you could paint it with the base coat of the orginal chapter it was 'stolen' from and then have it half painted your chapters colors. As to not piss the Machine Spirt completely off. Hey it only has a BS of two so its probly going to miss anyway so dont blame the shootin' on the paint job .
But if you were doing a stranded-story based SM chapter including "stolen" SM armor, viechles, and such would be cool. As long as done in moderation. And I dont think I would include a stole Dreadnought, as a Machine Spirt is alot easyer to convince to fight with you than a hundred-thousand year old geezer.

The guilty laugh while the innocent suffer.............WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!!!
It would be repainted (stolen from a rival Chapter). Actually, this isn't even necessary, I was just exploring one of a few possible avenues. Thanks for the input though, I probably will go this way!
err i think marines generally dont steal one another vehiclesOriginally Posted by Zanzibar
