So what I'm looking to do is come up with a modular set of WH/DH Inquisitor retinues and WH/DH Elites and Fast Attack choices that can be brought in as allies to toughen up an IG parent list (or, conversely, I can use my IG STs to form the core of a parent DH list with WH allies). The units I have in mind are:
HQ WH Inquisitor: 3x Crusaders; 2x Chirurgeons; 1x Familiar; 3x Acolytes
HQ GKT Commander
HQ/Elite DH Inquisitor: 3x Gun Servitors (Plasma Cannon; 2x H; 2x Sages; 1x Mystic
Elite WH Inquisitor: 3x Crusaders; 2x Chirurgeons; 1x Familiar
Fast Attack PAGKs
Fast Attack Seraphim
I've got all these units except for the Seraphim and the WH INQ retinue. This selection of allies gives a huge amount of flexibility to a list.
Currently, I've fielded and have had good results with all the units I've got. I don't have the WH codex yet, but I've monkeyed around with the IAL trying to improve my existing lists. So my questions are:
Are these strong WH retinue configurations or how can they be improved?
Do the Seraphim compensate for DH's lack of fast units? Have people fielded them as allies and have they worked out well?
Is this plan worthwhile? Between the retinue, the seraphim, and the WH codex, it will be a little spendy to add two units. WH looks like it is much better at CC retinues with the crusaders, and the models are cool, but am I better off just using GKs if I want to add some CC punch?
I'm sorry, I should have been more clear about what these allies are supplementing:Originally Posted by Stormie
If IG is the parent list, there are 2 infantry platoons in the troops slots and 2 bassies and 1 LR in the heavy slots. The allies provide assault punch, access to an assassin, or even more shooting.
If DH is the parent list, there are 3 IST squads in the troops slots and 2 TLLC dreads in the heavy slots. The allies would then be called on to provide dedicated shooting or improved mobility.
