I am wanting to trade my Russ' hull mounted lascannon for the heavy bolter but the box doesnt come with one. I have a very high asthetic standard for my army and I dont want to do a poor conversion... so, how can I convert a HB of the same scale (ie not smaller than the sponsons) to fit into the hull?
This should be useful to everyone who has been told to ditch that hull lascannon.
It's worth a krak!
I actually just use the Heavy Bolters intended for the sponsons...they are actually completely the same fit.
Of course once I'd assembled my Armoured Company I had 2 short, but a contact with a Demolisher has agreed to send me their two spare sponsons (so try advertising and begging like I did).
If you still want to convert it, we had a long discussion on swapping the LC for HB here (look for Kaiser's post):

I used the HB from a HW box. I had to cut it a little shorter than I first thought so it wasn't too long at the front of the tank, but it ended up looking good. If you cut the Lascannon right at the base it is the same thickness as the HB.

I used the HB sponson from a Demolisher kit (since i went las/plas).
Thanks for the feedback guys. I think that Ill use the HB sponson from the Demolisher kit because I really like the sound of a Las/Plas Demolisher.
