im reading the book grey knights and the main justicar in the stories goes and talks to his chaplain on titan. not this got me pissed because grey knights dont have a useable chaplain from thier own codex why not?? too overpowering with greyknights or did they just forget him??
but i want a DH chaplain and a model for 1 too
i would also like to hear what others have to say about this
Ghost's of Terra
Besides, I read they dont follow the index astartes, and have a different force orginazation just like how Grey Knight Terminators are sorta like librarians fluff wiseOriginally Posted by lepermessiah
What'd i'd reccomend is get an inducted SM force. Use the HQ slot to get a Chaplain. Take his head and arms, either buy them online or separate them and put them on a GK termie body. That's what i'd reccomend.
You know what would really be scary? Yeah. I know that you know that i know that you know that i know what i'm thinking:
War Titans for 40k. Muahahahaha! They'd be like 50,000 points.
(This rambling brought to you by too much Caffiene)
Space Marines - 1/0/0
Night Gobbos - 1/0/0
Technically, I thought all Grey Knights were supposed be able to perform the duties of a Chaplain. They are closer to the Emperor than almost any being in existence, after all, so if anyone's qualified to act as a battlefield priest, it's probably them.
you cant induct space marines if grey knights are present but you can do it the otherway around but in the book its says that the grey knight chaplain summoned the 1 justicar and im pissed we dont get out own model
Ghost's of Terra
Don't forget that Black Library fiction is NOT the official canon of the 40K universe. "Grey Knight" is particularly bad when it comes to fluff accuracy.
As others have said, the GK don't have the same setup as normal SM, since they aren't just another chapter. They don't have Librarian, Chaplains, Techmarines, etc. The veterans of the chapter, ie the Terminators, all handle some of a librarian's tasks. Each GK looks to his immediate superior for spiritual guidance (meaning a Justicar is the chaplain for troopers, etc). And thralls are used in place of techmarines. Basically, a GK is too valuable to waste on a specialized role.
yea but if they are the immediate chaplain rile then why dont they have abilities like a chaplain for 50 points i would like alittle more than attack and 1 point of leadership
come there are things for less points that are better
Ghost's of Terra
They get a power weapon too, and that would usually cost 15 points, so the attack and leadership effectively cost 10 points, which isn't too bad. Plus the power weapon gives you +2 strength, that's not too shabby.Originally Posted by GrandMasterNemesiiii
Maybe (and I say maybe) the Grey knights do have chaplains, but they simply don't go out into battle to fight because the Grey knights are better at it anyway, and they need to stay at the monastery and perform their duties. Just a thought.
EDIT: As Megalomaniac said, the fiction sometimes doesn't hold true to what GW made. Take Star Wars for example- In the extended universe books, it says that Boba Fett used to be a travelling entertainer named Jaster Mereel, but as we all know, in Star Wars ep. 2, you find out Boba is a clone of his father Jango, and was always called Boba Fett, and sure as hell wasn't no travelling entertainer.
Maybe he posed as a travelling entertainer to fool his rivals.
Hey, I got quoted in a seperate thread. Anyway, if you really want a Grey Knight Chaplain just model a Brother-Captain or Grand Master as one. The suggestion about using a Space Marine army for one model is a bit silly, besides a Space Marine Chaplain doesn't have any of the Grey Knight rules.
