    Deathwatch in IG

I'm putting a Deathwatch Kill Team to go with my IG Army. Now I know these guys are beasts, but I'm not entirely sure on how to use them in my current army. Should I go for CC all the time, or try and out shoot the enemy, or stick them in a transport for versatility? Any ideas?

    Hmmm.....

In WD 305 this is a team that took out 734 points worth of Tyranids.

Doom Squad of DOOM: 360 points

Brother Zapherion: Bolter, Force Weapon, Psychic Hood
1 Deathwatch Veteran, paired lightning claws
1 Deathwatch Veteran, Bolter, Power Fist
    3 Space Marines, Bolters
    2 Space Marines, Heavy Bolters
(All are armed with inferno bolts, frags, and melta bombs)

So, I, personally, would go for a mix, but leaning slightly towards the ranged aspect. As in have 2 Veterans w/ bolter/pfist instead of two lightning claws.

I was really impressed with the Deathwatch as well, and the idea of having a S8 hidden Powerfist in my IG army sounded great. However, though they are usually pretty solid for me, I have found a better use for those points. 360 pts bought 7 Marines in the battle report. Those same 360 pts COULD have been used to buy 7 GK Terminators, and you would have a few points to spare. Since the IG army list's main weakness is CC, it makes sense to let your regular guardsmen and tanks do all the shooting and take an ally that can pound the enemy right up close.

Yeah, I read that battle report a few days ago, and I thought the Deathwatch were pretty amazing. So far, this is my DW Kill Team

Captain w/ Power Weapon and (something)
Veteran w/ Bolter and Power Fist
Veteran w/ Bolter and Power Fist
    Marine w/ Heavy Bolter
    Marine w/ Heavy Bolter
Marine w/ Bolter and CC Weapon
Marine w/ Bolter and CC Weapon
Marine w/ Bolter and CC Weapon
Marine w/ Bolter and CC Weapon
Marine w/ Bolter and CC Weapon

I'm pretty sure I'm going to give them Inferno ammo, and I guess it'll be pretty dang shooty, but in the battle report, the DW kill at least half of the 734 points worth of Tyranids, CC specialists, in close combat. So even if it is really shooty, they pack a close in punch, too. I mean, Terminators are awesome, hands down, but after what the DW did to the Tyranids in that battle report, there's no doubt they can earn their points. Plus, I've already ordered two squads of them from the UK, and I've recieved my Captain (from the US GW Online Store) and started putting him together.

By the way, does anyone know if the Captain has to take a weapon with a bolter component?

Is there anyone here that uses Deathwatch in IG? What do you do with them?

I'm actually looking at a Daemonhunters option instead of a Deathwatch. I'm thinking getting an Lord Inquisitor with a retinue, and then an Inquisitor (independent) and sticking him in the same squad.

Deathwatch is appealing, though. Only drawback is that one must have the shoulderpad.

the shoulderpads can be ordered for cheap from the online store. That's actually one of the reason I bought them- they're so dang cool, with the spiffy DW shoulderpad and everything.
