Well, In my list, I have 2xBassies. However, I've been thinking about the usefullness of a Russ (battle tank, not demolisher). 2x Bassies or Russ... argh. Which do you guys think is more usefull/better. Russ would have 1x Lascannon, 2x Heavy Bolters, Heavy Stubber, Battle Cannon.
in my ovn army i got 2 russes and no bassie
but i would say 1 of each could kick alot of ass
Forgot to say thats its 1000pts list as well.
List is here:http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...269#post456269
I'm probly going to Replace: Xenos Fighters and Die Hards with Sharpshooters.
Thanks (in anticipation)

I gave you an answer of 2 bassies and a battle tank but since its a thousand points I would go with the Leman russ because it has multiple roles and is alot tougher and more durable the the baslisk.Originally Posted by Lord Yossanrion

Though the most common combo is one of each. Terrain and enamies are other things to consider. If the table won't have much terrain to hide or at least make your bassies hull down then go with the russ. On the other hand if the table has dense terrain it's the bassies.
Eldar or Tou deffinantly the Bassies
Marines - Either or.
Deep striking enemey - Russes or guard your bassies well.
I'd go with two bassies. Your getting a lot more ordanance fire power for less points. The russ has more tactical use though but I still think you should go with more pie plates.

Note on kitting out your Russ: Drop the hull Lascannon and take a Hull HB. That way if you lose your battle cannon, you have an effective troop killer still. I even use the three HB if i am shooting at one two Meqs left in the squad. I also would drop the Stubber on your Russ, you almost never shoot it. This will save 22pt per tank, perhaps enough that you can work the Russ/Bassie in your list, which IMHO is much better.
If you are in terrain that does not offer a lot of cover, you can always hide the Bassie behind the Russ. Both are level 2 cover so the Tank blocks LOS.

russ hands down, bassies with IDF have a MIN. range of 36" which is totally ****. expecially if u are playing against a charging army. you will be lucky to get one pie plate on the enemy, and even then u better hope u roll a "hit".
russes have av14 so they are a hard nut to crack. a russ with just a h.bolter hull is only 145pts. i would recomend 2 of these and a griffon if u are looking for some support fire, griffion is only 75pts!!!!
If the enemy gets in 36" range the bassie must simply move in LOS and switch to direct fire.
If you like to play defensively keep the two bassies. If you want an offensive tactic take a russ followed by an iron fist squad, russ and chimera work very well toghether.
i say take 1 of each because if you take 1 of each your russ is a good way to hold the enemy away while you blast them out of the way with the bassie
a russ is always a good thing to have in your force and so are your bassie so why not have both to me it sound like it is the perfect choise
