I have taken my bikes and speeders and made them Ravenwing. However I am looking over the FAQ's and the old Dark Angles codex and I am confused when I see other peoples lists.
In the Faqs they correct the speeder entry to be the same as the codex speeders.
Is there a rule somewhere that I am missing that makes the Bike Squadrons and Attack Bike Squadrons the same as the book. I see people post using attack bikes w/ Heavy Bolters yet all Ravenwing attack bikes have only the option for Multi Melta side cars.
I am also interested as the point cost on bikes and Ravenwing Codex bikes are alot different and every point counts.
You can't make them ravenwing, either they are (playing dark angels) or they aren't. Just want to clarify that.
I used to play dark angels and this confusion is what made me stop and make my own successor chapter using traits. But to answer your question, if you're just playing friendly games talk to your opponent and figure out what you should do in terms of points cost etc... If worse comes to worse you can just play them straight out of the new codex and lose the ravenwing special rules.
As it stands I am looking to try and put together a Tournament list so I was trying to find out what options I have available. The lack of Heavy Bolters on my attack bikes is not very promising to me as Heavy bolter shots ties in more for my bolter shooting then a Multi Melta shot.
It seems to me you have an old version of the codex. I cant, for the life of me, figure out why youd see the things you do otherwise.
Speeders: This refers to battle company squadrons. Battle company squadrons were NON-Ravenwing speeders that were listed in the DA codex. The FAQ is telling you that since we now use the new sm codex, you may ignore battle squadrons as those options are included in the normal speeder profile now. This in no way refers to Ravenwing speeders. They still use the profile in codex: DA.
Attack Bikes: In the DA codex, attack bikes come with Heavy bolters standard and may be upgraded to multi-meltas. Just like in the SM codex. The only difference between Ravenwing attack bikes and normal attack bikes are:
they have 1 wound not 2.
They have a 2+ save not a 3+
They have a jink save
They have the skilled rider ability
Their minimum squad size is 1, not 2.
Bikes and attack bikes cost more in the DA codex because they come with 2 skills. Skilled Rider, and Jink. This is why they cost more.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
yes and if you don't want to buy the new dark angels codex you can download the update off the GW site. note that is an update not an FAQ
I feel slightly stupid now. Thank you very much for all your help. I found the update for the DA codex that has all the things you mentioned. An my codex is old. I started and stopped my DA army back when I first started 40K and never thought to look and see if the codex had any updates too it. thank you again.
