Just wondering, whats your favorite tactic versus different types of armies i.e. Close Combat armies or Shooty armies.
Against my sm friends i use this tactic. I take a ton of gk, a gkgm with termies, and a few IST. Also, i always take an inquisitor with a plasma cannon servitor and maybe some other warriors. I dont advance until i eliminate most threatening tanks/ ordnance weapons. Once they are gone, I advance to 24" away and fire on them as they come to me. The grey knights slways can take on all of their marines. I use the plasma cannon on death company, termies, and honor guard. I rarely avoid a combat. I usually will DS my GM if terrain is favorable. I take a few squads of 5 man ISts that have 2 ISt with plasma guns. The simple fact is, grey knights are much better than marines. Get rid of their special stuff first, and you have won the game. And NEVER expose your grey knights to open fire from more than one or maybe 2 squads. And dont be afradi to DS if you want to. In the 20+ battles i have played, i have never lost a unit in DSing.
I put a teleport homer on my IST vet, drive him up in his rhino, unload, and commence with the painbringing. Against DE, Nids, and Necrons I have to think a little bit more. But that's the basic Idea.
Simple, but effective.
A man's at odds to know his mind, for his mind is aught he has to know it with.
Generally, I have 2 dreads in a pair, with a unit of PAGk behind each one. A BC/GM with psycannon in the middle so he can't be shot at, and advance toward enemy lines through terrain avoiding heavy weapons fire.
When I get within 24", they generally get shot up so much they either flee or only have one or two guys remaining, but if they still have a coherent battle line and units that pose a threat, I charge and show the full force of grey knights in combat.
my favourite tactic is to get stuck in and see how much damage i can cause before i have to cut my losses and lance strike the lot o' them!
another is to send in 1 land raider to distract the enemy(shooty or cc) with 2 5man stormtroopers for troops then drop a company of gk's on their heads!
*edit*my plan is more simple than your's yuri!
