So, I just bought a Griffen off ebay... (pretty cheap, 27 bucks with shipping.). I was wondering... where are the current accepted rules for it? I know the old ones are in the old codex (duh), but for tournies and such, i might need to know that sort of thing... I heard something baout IAV3, but ill be damned if im going to shell out 100 bucks for a friggin book... at a GW store, would i get crap from the redshirts if I tried to use my old guard codex? or what?
It's in the old imperial codex, I'm not sure if i can give you the "rules" to it, but I'll be glad to send you the info on it in a pm if that's allowed on this website
...And they shall fear the lasgun
I beleive that there are some rules for the griffon on the British GW site.
Im not sure if these rules are legal for standard guard but I beleive they are legal for an armored company.
right... I have the old guard codex... just wondering if i can use the entry there.
Actually, I just read online on GW's website that the griffon is no longer part of the army list. It and one other unit... exterminator I believe it was... was removed from the army list for re-designing purposes before the IG codex was revamped and just after the Eye of Terror Codex was published. The language of the IG article came off as the units are gone but not forever and will reappear later.
quos deus vult perdere prius dementat

the chapter approved armoured company stuff is great
there's the link to the free online codex for chapter approved armoured company
So if you have the necessary vehicles..... depends on who you play against to.. might let you use older rules.
You could try getting a copy of the IA:3 rules... they're probably identical to the armoured co. rules though in any case...
Message to GW: Make more ForgeWorld rules official...
I use the IG rules on the UK sight and no one has ever complained. That is I have an IG company with my griffon by it's side.
I can't help thinking if buy removing the griffon GW may have hoped that people would go out and buy replacement tanks. Thus by simply removing a tank they could increase sales, while cutting down production costs on a low selling tank.
It did make me buy a Griffon from GW for $20! at an Auction
Darn both my Economics and Accounting teachers
PS you could always play the DPR Griffon Mark 2 (Daimon Prophet Griffon Mark 2)
VDR rules: Small Open Topped Tank, Armor 10, 9, 9 with a Griffon Mortor
Just hide it away and shoot the enemey. It only costs 50 points and counts as a fast attack It also has a Targeter giving it BS 4 and thus more effective for Cityfight.
Just Imagine 3 Bassies and 3 DPR Griffon's Mark 2 all for a total of 425 points.
