I finished making my own space marine chapter but now I can't decide on how to paint them...
Take the fight to them
See, but don't be seen
Eye to Eye
We stand alone
The chapter itself is known for its depressing attitude and fondness for assault.
Something bright really wouldn't suit them, but at the same time I don't want to do black as I feel it's too obvious. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I can read now!
Midnight blue, perhaps with a little bit of white?
"I have died a thousand deaths, and I will die a million more..."
Maybe take a look at the colors of sports teams. I'd suggest hockey obviously, but there are some good color schemes out there in football too.
I painted my marines the colors of the L.A. Kings because I'm a huge Kings fan, but there are a lot of other teams who have interesting color schemes as well.
We all carry on,
When our brothers in arms are gone.
So raise your glass high
For tomorrow we die,
And return from the ashes you call.
I have army with almost same traits (flesh over steel)
and I made mine a dark grey with silver, gold and red to get out the details.
I think you need too search for a color that suits the home-planet of your army, like mine is from an frozen-desert.
I think you should manage to find the right combo.
desert browns/tans are fairly sombre, and allow for splashes of color to mark ranks and companies, AND are almost never used except for IG
Mysterious Member of the ANZAC Clan
I dont really have anything for you but try somethngs out on the space marine interatctive painter try it, its fun.
From your freindly neighboor hood Spider Man.
question is, what're you gona call them...
my Emperor's Hand are based Black with Icor/Jade green higlights for the "for lifer's" and the others are according to the chapter they were sent from...
(I use almost the same traits, but Eye To Eye and Die Standing as my flaws)
for these guys,
with the "We Stand Alone" then dark colors are kinda your enemy...
all the main cores take the kinda dark colors,
blue, red, black, grey, green....
you need flavor text for these guys to decide where they're from and what their deal is...
but just an on-the-fly choice...
I'd say use a camo pattern, not the usual marine flat color,
like use a green or brown with tiger-striping in black,
and either a lighter green, or red for the highlight markings
Pictures of the Smigs Army for your amusement....
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women"
"JESUS SAVES! the rest of your models each take a wound."
