I am currently working on my first space marines Iron Fist army and am looking to build up to 2000 points very quickly. So far I have:
5 CC Terminators (on order)
Dreadnought w/ Assault Cannon
6 Man Tactical Squad (Kept to six in order to pile into the Razorback)
Razorback w/ Lazcannon and h/k Missile
5 Man Scout Squad (Sniper Rifles and Heavy Bolter)
What I am looking for is an army that can lay down some heavy fire and give the CC terminators time to show their stuff in hand to hand combat. Does anyone have some good ideas for me especially in the heavy support where I am debating a land raider (crusader or standard), and also with regard to fast attack (something to soften them up for the terminators to tear apart). Any ideas would be appreciated.
Get 20/30 more Tactical Marines and we can talk.
I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight... razor... and surviving.
Yeah, nore tac marines. Land raiders arent bad, they usually do 1 of 2 things, they die in the first turn, or they stick around for 3-4 turns and soak up an immense amount of firepower. If you really want to play with assault terminators then get a LRC and 3 more assault terminators. give 2-3 of them thunder hammers and the rest lightning claws. Other than that you'll want a devestator squad with 4 ML and 8-10 guys. what are your regualr terminators armed with?
Take life seriously, its lethal.
Like everyone else said more tactical marines, use them as tactical squads, veteran squads, devastator squad model fodder etc... one model many uses.
I'd also reccomend a landspeeder tornado or two.
I can read now!

I haven't put their CC weapons on yet and I am debating the power fist and the chain fist, is the chain fist worth the points? As far as other weapons, the standard storm bolter, a cyclone missile launcher and an assault cannon. Good idea regarding the extra three assault terminators.
Also, I went out and bought two more boxes of tac squads and started up on modeling those this evening. Now, any ideas as far as fast attack goes? Landspeeders, bikes or assault squads?
ML = Missle Launcher
Well, it depends on what you want -
Bikes = Coolness for posing and such, but often get caught in CC and die if you're not careful
Land Speeders = Tank busters, quick, and can easily get around the rear/flanks of enemy armies
Assault Squads = Good assault unit, but be careful as to who you charge with them as they can get beaten (as much as I hate to admit it, SMs are not the best CC fighters  )

I'm surprised no one's pointed out that it's imperial fists, not iron fists. Anyway, land speeder tornado with asault cannon and heavy bolter would be exactly what you want for that fast attack option.
These guys are the imperial fists so a tank or two would definitely not go astray, a land raider of some sort for the assault termies and then maybe a predator, whirlwind or vindicator.
"You challenge me knowing that I am Xiahou Dun!?"
dont give your terminators chainfists, they arent really worth it. you will probably want to get 10 assault marines and give one of them a powerfist. Another tank might not be too bad, probably a predator with lascannons if you bring a crusader, or a vindicator if you bring the regular Land raider. landspeeders are pretty good, but they feel a little too fragile for imperial fists, not enough staying power.
Take life seriously, its lethal.
Sorry about the imperial fist/iron fist mixup, I got a little mixed up in the head. Some good ideas though! I'm excited! I play against space marines so often and usually step on them so I thought it would be a good challenge to put together a space marine army for myself and see if I can fare any better.
