I have a question and after using the search function I was unable to find a definative answer so here goes.
Im Undecided on what SM Chapter to go with. I know allot of people suggest a self created one but to begin with I would really like to go with a codex chapter if possible. My problem is I am unable to find The details I need to help me decide a chapter. I used to half heartedly play a Nids army about a year ago so im looking for a chapter that dosnt rely so heavily on CC. I was orignally going to go with the Black Temaplar Chapter and already started painint a few marines I have lying around. But after some reading online I found they are more CC oriantated and are unable to have devestator squads ?.
So what I was wondering was could people please list the major chapters and the type of army they are if their mainly shooty,Close Comabty Or a bit of both.
you're talking space marines,
with a 3+ save,
power fists/weapons cheap and in every squad,
they kinda favor close combat....
but then, they're strategy rating is justified,
for the most part, you can build marines however you want and be successfull...
i'ds say, try an ultramarine variant (as in, paint how you want, but play as ultra marines) to get a feel for what you want, then go from there.
Dark Angels - Shooty, don't run away when shot.
Blood Angels - not shooty, furious charge free
Space Wolves - Assaulty with some shooty
Black Tmplars - Wierdly assaulty
Ultramarines - mixed
Everything else - mixed.
