Welcome to Librarium Online!
Who in your eyes is the greatest sm chapter and why. Personaly the Imperial fists, and Blood Angels because if it wernt for the IF guarding the holy palace of terra and dont forget the hounorable sacrafice that the blood angels primarch made ( dont know how to spell his name so i wont bucher it).
To do the bidding of the god of decay death and corruption is to be rid of all things that makes you weak only in return for the control of your soul!
I personally think that Ultramarines are the ones that GW has in the limelight.
You know what would really be scary? Yeah. I know that you know that i know that you know that i know what i'm thinking:
War Titans for 40k. Muahahahaha! They'd be like 50,000 points.
(This rambling brought to you by too much Caffiene)
Space Marines - 1/0/0
Night Gobbos - 1/0/0
Personally I don't play SM but I think that the Dark Angels would be my Army of choice.
Only A Dwarf Can Appreciate A Hairy Woman
Greatest space marine chapter? Silly misguided loyalists...
The greatest space marines come in legions... not chapters... More specifically Chaos Legions!!!
All of them are great in their own way. But my favorites are: Alpha Legion, Iron Warriors, Black Legion, Night Lords, Word Beares, Death Guard, Emperor's Children, Thousand Sons... anyone catching the point? :shifty:
O yea I'm almost forgetting... World Eaters!!!!
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!!! DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!!! SKULLS FOR KHORNE!!! :w00t:
"There is no peace among the stars, only an eternity of slaughter and the laughter of thirsting gods."
Heresy, death to the heretic, admins alert the inquisitor. You cannot judge a chapter by the actions of a primarch. I would have to say the ultramarines or the space wolves in the eye of terror. I dont think the dark angels could be as they are so secretive and uncooperative
I really don't think you can say the chaos legions are the greatest cause as, I think it was ze_poodle said, they got beaten and ran away like the dirty haxxors they are (sorry for butchering the quote). So it's kinda like saying "yeah we're the greatest! oh, except for that time and that and that time... uhh and that time too.
The space marine chapter fluff is full of huge battles and great sacrifices and such. My favourite is the lamenters (I think). They crusaded for ages trying to get back their chapter's honour. They finally do and then hive fleet kraken comes along, they fight very bravely, and despite the fact that they're outnumbered by about a million to 1 they manage to buy enough time for the civillian planets to be evacuated. By that time they're cut off. They consign their souls to the emperor and vow to take as many of those accursed tyranids with them as possible. Shortly after that they're wiped out.
To me that's what great is, honour, determination, sacrifice and killing lots and lots of insectoid aliens.
"You challenge me knowing that I am Xiahou Dun!?"
Loyalist - Mortifactors. Because I like the idea of 'feral' marines, and their death cult mentality is pretty cool too,
Chaos - Emperor's Children. Because they are the craziest marines around. Lurid colours, death dealing music, genocidal tendancies.. what's not to like.
Now now. No need for accusations. This thread is an opinion post. Read some of the fluff on that final battle some time. About how the emperor only had one chance to kill Horus, which was a final desperate blow? Plus everyone stays on the "balance rule" of 40k. No one race ever wins over the other. Or there would be no game...Originally Posted by Xiahou Dun
Anyway, in the spirit of being on topic, I have to say my favorite loyalist chapters would be blood angels and dark angels, both of which I've fielded. Ah, yes and space wolves. Both becasue i like their fluff, and I think the SW novel series is both hilarious and entertaining.
There you have it *smack* to all you chaos players yeah all part of the plan yeah whatever why not just win now thats right cause your not the greatest. Foul heretic.
Have the Salamanders made any successor chapters or have they kept their legion intact unlike the Imperial fists tried to do. If they have then i believe they would be as they have been the closest at keeping to the ways of the days of their primarch. But i still think that ultramarines and blood angels but i suppose they all have their glory.
(edit sorry to you guys my brother who plays chaos was get up in my face about how horus should have won i shouldn't have said that about the FOUL HERETICS)

Apology accepted. Just be careful with that, that could be considered spam which is against our beloved Librarium Online Rules... :sleep:Originally Posted by Deek
But to answer your question, the slamanders took a huge thrashing during the heresy. At Istavan IV about five marines made it out, and then they lost a LOT when they tried a dangerous warp jump to reach Earth.
According to some older fluff: They went on a crusade called the purging to atone themselves for not being at the Emperor's side during the heresy. It was said that they will not be forgiven until a young initiate sacrafices himself for the good of the chapter.(or something like that)
However... the Black Dragons and Storm Lords have similar combat doctrines and physical traits... After all, the Salamanders have provided their tithe of geneseed to Mars for 10.000 years... Just something for you to think about... ^_^
