I'm kinda planning my first army. Is there any suggestions that veteran IG players have as to the organization of an IG army?
Im not really veteran but one thing I have noticed, that is a change from what I thought comming into guard. I thought to be good you had to have like 5+ tanks in a 100 pts battle at least...but by far the most succesful unit are the troop platoons. Having a heavy weapon in each squad, wears down the enemy so much any charge against your lines is futile. Id recommend at least two platoons at 3 squads each.
My favorite tank is the basilisk. Today I fired at this DA players assault squad, the shot went straight back 5 inchs landing in the middle of his devestator squad...taking out all 4 ML leaving just the sergeant. That was the first turn of the game...my basilisk killed like 15 marines, vindicator and like 7 'guants and disabled the AC on a land speeder. Worth 125 pts ? Hell yes. I'd recommend two of these bad boys. The Leman Russ is good, but runs around 160 points at cheapest, good for taking out squads with the cannon, plus the front 14 armour is great ( I got charged by 2 termies and they both failed to get through ). The chimera is a great vehical. With a multi laser, heavy bolter, storm bolter and las guns out the back its great for infantry. For the pts its a great vehical. I usually use it to down land speeders or go hunting for annoying units and drop off my veteran squad.
Another lesson I learned is to have lots of LC, cause termies, Zanthropes and HQ are a bitch ( basilisk and battle cannon are ap3 ) to take out. I poured all my fire exept for two tanks into a Zan, and it saved all but 1 ( 2 wounds ). Lesson learned.
High Elves (BloodBowl)
Warseer Blood Bowl League
baslisk rulez it is sow graet if you have great civer atherwise it sucks it onley has 12 armour at front i love the masiv infantrie whit a lot of heavy wapons and fire support from your hq thats what i like
This is not AOL, you can use complete sentances.
Anyway, here is a breif (brief you laugh) summary of what do get and use in 1500 points:
Colonel w/ about 40 points MAX of wargear. I wouldn't jump the gun as he can be targented in CC, and shouldn't be in harms way anyway.
Staff - master-vox and standard mandatory. Make the other 2 as you like.
Support Squads - Take one heavy bolter squad, and/ or a lascannon squad. If you chose also do Special Weapons Squads.
Advisors - Start with one commisar for every 1000 points, unless you need more for fluff reasons. Always take at least 1, but round down.
Storm Troopers are overrated and expensive, but so many people love them. I would reccomend hardend veteran squads w/ plasmas and lascannon. Give one of the above a Chimera.
Everything else - Crap. Techpriest Enginseers - Metal Crap. Ogyrns - Big Crap. Ratlings - Little Crap.
In 1500 points I would reccomend:
Two Platoons, one CC with flamers and vet. sargents, one shooty with plasmas, grenade launchers, heavy bolters, missile launchers, etc.
Armored Fist - Take one. These are great.
Conscripts Are Overrated Shields. Don't bother.
Senitel (singular), if you have the points. Use it as a diversion.
Hellhound - These are awesome now, use them with your AF.
Two Leman Russ. If you fancy the basilisk sub it in.
Hope these ramblings help.
