Well I do use Stern, but there is a special sergent that comes in the GKT box set
Not as far as I know.
I just use Brother Captain Stern, but he's converted to have a psycannon, and a nemesis force halberd. He's standing on a rock with a chaos head on it, and a bolter shell lodged in it.
I also have two brother-captains from the termie boxes, but one has Stern's sword, and the other just has a halberd, so I could really use any one of them. But I have always used the converted Stern model, cos I always take a psycannon.
Either the Brother-Captain from the Box or the Stern models are fine. I woudn't use any of the old models unless the rest of the retinue are going to be made up of the same because they woudn't fit in otherwise, also, IMO, the newer models look much cooler.
If you really feel adventuresome, you coublt always add little accessories or special basing or whatever to make the model stand out more.
1500 years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the Universe
500 years ago everybody knew the world was flat
5 minutes ago you knew humans were alone on the planet
Imagine what you'll know tomorrow
I've converted one out of a Grey Knight terminator. I've used a good bit of greenstuff, and am quite proud of him. He has teh GK terminator body that's leaning forward (left knee bent). I used greenstuff to position the arm that's extended and holding a sword so that he is folding the sword up in the air. I replaced the helmet with a chaos terminator head with re-breather (cut off the top-knot, of course) and built up the area around it so that he has a large "collar" that juts out to a point, very knightly, and the whole area around the head has been built up, which gives the appearance of a bulky suit of armor that dwarfs the wearer. I sculpted a tabard out of green stuff, gave him a cape from a Warmachine mini, and put the scabbard from an Inquisitor (scale) model on his back. I also used magnets to set it up so I can swap out a storm bolter arm and a psycannon arm. A little time and effort can make a very cool, unique Grand Master that gets compliments.
There's an angel on my shoulder, in my hand a sword of gold.
I was thinking of just buying individual GKT's (I don't buy box sets because I'll never use the incinerator) and converting one of them to have a little cloth at the front like the justicar using green stuff and some thin aluminium, like from take away boxes. I would also have him holding a sword instead of a halibred, maybe pearcing some chaos body on the ground or something. We'll see .
