The Brelian 603rd rifles are expierencing low enlisments rates and have enacted a conscription, now my question is what special/heavy weapons if any. should i equip thes brave if unwilling servants of the Emperor?
Flamers are really the onley thing worth equipping on Conscripts, as they dont use BS to hit.
Personally for special weapons I usually equip my conscripts with flamers if not anything, their BS is usually not good enough for me to invest the points for heavy weapons and other special weapons in them.
Makes sense, i think i will go the route of flamers, than i gotta keep a commisar nearby and just run around rapid firing and charging to death anything that gets in my way
what if i made an army, comprised of 3 minimal guard infantry platoons (command+2squads) and 3 platoons of 50 conscripts. dish out the points to give them all with warrior weapons, put independent commissars with the conscripts; maybe even give the guard infantry squads hardened fighters. give a few choice squads krak grenades (like the command squads) and have those run after tanks.
doctrines: conscripts, warrior weapons, hardened fighters, independent commissars, as for the last one...
one question, does close order drill work if i assault in line formation?
well, either iron discipline or drop troops (drop in the guard infantry to tie up/engage the enemy while the conscripts advance taking on less fire)
it would be fun, if nothing else... mayhaps a bit too orky-fun
COD always works, even in assault!
definitely flamers if anything. I have a friend with a Valhallan army, and he takes a conscript platoon of 50 conscripts with 5 flamers and an independent commissar...it looks SWEET! and it works great (very reminiscent of Enemy At the Gates).

Close Order Drill works in close combat, but it can only really be used when you're being charged. Why? Because when you move your models in for the charge they have to be placed in base-to-base contact with the enemy who likely aren't arranged in a neat line, which means you likely won't form a nice unbroken chain of models in base-to-base contact.

But cant you just circle around an enemy with base to base contact?
Certemplar, if you give the Conscripts warriors weapons, hardened fighters, and everything else your suggesting- well, Im pretty sure it's illegal as well as expensive; to my knowledge conscripts do not count as guard infantry, so they cannot take any doctrines.
And krak grennades- jesus! They suck! If you plan to go tank hunting with an independent commisionar, spend the points for a meltabomb- which, if I might add, actually works!
