    Daemonhunter Acolytes vs. Witchhunter Acolytes

Comparing the Daemonhunter and Witchhunter codices I came upon an anomaly. Power weapons are 15pts in the Daemonhunter's and 10pts in the Witchhunter... That means that a Witch hunter Acolyte can be equipped with a power weapon and carapace amour, making it a much more efficient killing machine than their Daemonhunter counterparts. What’s the deal? Doesn't seem fair to me...

Lets see, here are some things a Daemonhunter Inquisitor has access to that a witch hunter Inquisitor doesn't:

    Terminator armour
    Powerfist
    Daemonhammer
    Psycannon

    there are more...

So basically a witch hunter inqusitor is limited to power armour and power weapon or force weapon, and a storm bolter is his best shooting weapon.

So in response to your "it's not fair" I'd just like to say:

    "Oh boo hoo! Poor Daemonhunters!"

Ah... yes that's all true. But that's not the issue here. We are debating the differences in Acolytes, not Inquisitors. So my "it's not fair" comment still stands.

Ah, but what I was getting at is that an acolyte (or 3) is always accompanied by an inquisitor right?

So while a DH cc retinue may have to pay more for it's power weapons, this is probably to counter the fact that a WH cc retinue most likely has no power fists (or at any rate fewer) and it's members are easier to kill. Combat servitors cost the same, so WH don't get cheaper power fists.

A DH retinue can have, say 3 crusaders and 3 acolytes + an =I= with a powerfist. That means 6 power weapons and a power fist with multiple wounds and attacks. A witch hunter's retinue with similar makeup just has 7 power weapons, and it is probably easier to kill the =I=

    So it evens out, IMHO.

Errr....Yoss, DH don't get Crusaders, which is one reason why I really like WH CC retuines!!!

And hey, if you don't like it don'tr use it, just ally a WH if you REALLY want cheaper PWs.

Plus, if they were exactly the same, where would the varitey go?

And besides, DH =][= and retuines make better shooty squads.

Whoops, sorry man, I get so confused nowadays, I post so many different places and all....

Now, do you can't me to complain about how we can't give OUR acolytes Artificer armor?

    Didn't think so.....

Its all even. Just in different. For example WH get Crusaders and DH don't. But they can have a massive 2+ unit. Addiontaly WH Inqusitors can't get 2+ svs.

Errr....Yoss, DH don't get Crusaders, which is one reason why I really like WH CC retuines!!!

Power weapons are 15 pts for DH, 10 for WH, and 5 for IG. The difference is what you can put them on and what kinds of other gear are available. DH also get Thunder Hammers for 5 points cheaper than anyone else in their armoury and GK Terminators can upgrade to them for free. Everything evens out somewhere in the Codex...though I still wish I could get GKs with jump packs...they'd be about 50 points each, though...
