Is it just me or was anyone else dissapointed a little by the new BT codex? It feels like they have more disadvantages than advantages. Can anyone help me see the light I may be ignorant to?
When I opened up my codex I did kindof wish I had perhaps held off on starting my Templars until -after- I looked at it. I'm not about to go repainting my shoulder pads yet though. I was a little disappointed in the extra unit choices that we lost (they mention what is missing in the design notes on the web site.)
At first I thought the new zeal rule was nice since we got to check it a lot. Then I decided it sucked because we had to check so often. However, with a Master I really like the new rule. Especially if you toss crusader seals and/or a company standard... it's roughly as good as fleet. It'll never trigger if you don't get shot at, but you can still shoot while getting the bonus movement as long as you are shot at. If nobody shoots at you, well, then you get to say hello with a completely unmolested squad. Nothing wrong with that.
I'm a little bummed, yeah, but I just need to readjust how I was going to put my army together. Nothing wrong with doing a bit of tweaking. Fortunately I don't have too many useless model casualties. I have been starting to work a little harder on coming up with some fluff/background so that I can use my BT models with a Codex chapter with a cleaner conscience though. I just need to find more than a single reference to a missing crusade/chapter in the GW fluff.
