Greetings from the DH forum, honored Commanders of the Imperial Guard.
I've got an average-sized DH army and am looking to expand into IG for allies options and a wildly different playing style. My idea is that by using the new Doctrines rules and DH as allies, I can kit out some Guardsmen without needing lots of Restricted Troops (since those are covered by DH units) and get a pretty fluffy yet playable army.
The idea is that my Inquisitor is isolated by Warp storms on a backwater deathworld populated by skilled hunters. Strange Warp activity in the area is causing an abnormal number of Psykers to be born among the populace, and Tzeentch loves to throw stuff at them through the Warp (like mutated Ork Roks, CSM, Dark Eldar, etc.)
So my army would include a DH Inquisitor Lord, a few Grey Knight and Inquisitorial Storm Trooper allies while the main force is made up of IG with Sharpshooters and Cameleoline, backed up by Heavy Weapon Platoons, Sanctioned Psykers (emergency troops personally trained by the Inquisitor Lord) and Ratling Snipers. I'd like to know if you all think that these guys will be a little too fragile for the kinds of numbers they're (not) likely to come in due to the Doctrine upgrades.
I think you might have the fluff problem of the inquisitors purging the ratlings.
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
I was going to use Cadian sniper models so they'd look like normal-sized humans. The GW site had an awesome conversion guide, too.
i like that idea to purge ratlings, add that your fluff.
Death to the Half-Pints! You're either Full-pint or No-pint!
i'd probably figure something out that didn't involve using sanctioned psykers, even if it is fluffy. and mayhaps be a bit better off going with light infantry (or mayhaps even jungle fighters) than cameleoline cloaks. shrug up to you and your fluff
