    starting a new guard army

Hey there I´m thinking to start a guard army which is themed on the organization of the allies in WWII. they get the same color sheme as the American paratroopers with some slight adjustments.

    now here is my question:
I´m going to play small points battles and then move further on. so what HQ would you advise to me and would I use tanks so fast in the beginning.

    Don´t mess with the dicegod

well if it's a 500 point game, i'd suggest at least one squad of grenadiers to fill in a troop slot as two infantry platoons (or a platoon and AF squad) will cost a big chunk of your available points. in games that small,a JO will suffice (as well as iron discipline). later on, upgrading to include an honorifica on him as well either a standard bearer or vox system.

as for tanks, start with a hellhound and leman russ battle tank (with 3 heavy bolter defensive weapons). later on, choices between a basilisk, additional hellhounds and/or leman russes, or chimera-mounted units.

...A blog that's mostly about Infinity, but sometimes other stuff too.

the leman russ vanquisher is one of the best tanks in the game. it has all the capabilities of the standard leman russ, but it also has the special vanquisher anti tank rounds.

Frostbite, it's against the rules to post stats, I'd edit those away before the mods do.

Secondly, whats the point in having a Vanquisher such small games? It'll eat more than a third of the available points.

I'd just go for the standard, all infantry list in 500 points

Have one Junior Officer, two platoons with two squads of infantry each and then a Bassilisk. That puts 55 infantry on the table and a Bassie. 55 infantry is quite a bit for such a small game...even if they are puny humans armed with flashlights:yes: Plus you've got the Bassie for tank busting/infantry smashing. There are, of course, downsides to taking a tank in such small games: You will lack special and heavy weapons.

Ooops, didn't know about not posting stats. Vanquishers are great, even if a bit pricey. just use the grenadiers doctrine and take two squads of stormtroopers with the full complement of special weapons, an anti tank squad and a tooled up command HQ, it worked well for me in a recent store campaign
