Arillery company used?

does anyone use the armored company doctrine that allows you to take artillery as troops?
i dont think it could be used unless in specific battles like ulta long boards.
so anyone play it or see anyone play it?you can put alot of ordinance for a low cost

As far as I know, very few people play an artillery company. Just using a long line of Russes allows for more variety since it's easy changing turrets and using one Russ as another type of Russ. However, you'd need an ungodly ammount of work to field a Basilisk as anything but a Griffon.

I'm not sure but I think there are rules for an Artillery Company where you can field bassies as troops. In fact I remember seing a list with 6 bassies, 4 LRBT, 1 LRD, and 2 chimeras. If you set it up right it would be very hard to beat. You'd have the bassies set up so you could overlap their fire (which would prevent any refuge within the bassie's 36" minimum range). Heres what it would look like:
[LB]= Leman Russ Battle Tank [LD]= Leman Russ Demolisher [B]= Bassie [C] Chimera

-------------------------------
[C]----------[D]----------[C]
[B][LB]--------------[LB][B]
[B][B][LB]-------[LB][B][B]

or something like that. I thought the idea was pretty cool.

It's an armoured company doctrine. You can find the rules for it in the armoured company list available for download on GW's website and in the sticky thread at the top.

half and half bassies and demolishers could be pretty good. expecially with plasma cannons for the tank aces.

You cannot get five Leman Russ variant tanks in an artillery company list because you only have three heavy slots, and your elites and HQ choices must use chimeras.

However, having three basilisks in each corner with chimeras to block LOS and prevent charges would be great on larger boards.

I think the artillery company option could be useful only in a big multiplayer game.
Anyway BS 4 chimeras are so sweet.

the best list to use is the armoured battlegruop list at the back of imperial armour vol 1, it lets you have the best balance between tanks and artillery, and it has some other stuff like hydras and manticores that you can't use anywhere else
