I was thinking of using 3 squads of 6 iqst's /w 2 plasma guns each instead of 2 with 10 troopers and only 4 plasma guns.
Just curious if its a good idea, anyone ever try it?
Its not bad, but remember IST die very fast, so one round of shooting from an Assault cannon can make these guys run away. With bigger squads they last longer, and Hellguns aren't great, but better than nothing.
Where the small 6 man squad can come in handy, is when you put 5 or 6 in a Rhino with 2 Meltas and go tank hunting, where Hullguns are completely useless.

Well, I have always thought of them more as meat shields, so I would go with the 2 bigger squads.

Pssst.... give me kudos....
The question of small squads or not is dependent on another factor, what else do you have on the board? If your like me and basically deepstrike all your GK's then for at least a turn or two your IST's are gonna be targets. However, as soon as your GK's enter the picture only a fool would waste shots on ST's while GK's roamed the board. So, If your going to foot slogg your GK's then the smaller squads with extra guns will probly work out great, but if your going to have a few turns where your ST's are the only poor fools on the board then you best be getting big squads that can absorb some punishment.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
It Didnt work for me the 6 man squads taking test after being shot at in the first turn
