I've made what I think is a pretty cool WH list, but I'm having trouble with one tiny thing and I would like the opinions of the other witch hunters...
In my cc inquisitor lord's retinue I've got 3 acolytes, 2 crusaders, a combat servitor, a familiar and a penitent. The inquisitor lord has a rosarius for armour. What I can't decide is whether to give the acolytes
A: Power swords and carapace armour, or
B: Power armour and bolt pistol/ccw
If I go option A then the acolytes have power weapons, but they are 2 attacks each at WS3 S3. Wow. Amazing. They die pretty easy and before I know it the squad is whittled down to the =I= lord and the crusaders.
If I go option B then the acolytes probably won't hurt anyone but they have a much better chance of surviving, which in turn gives the lord and his crusaders more time to do some real damage.
So I honestly don't know, do I go for wuss acolytes that ignore armour saves or tough acolytes that can't hurt anyone?
Some people go for the B option but with Mancatchers. It is depending on what you expect to see on the other side of the board.

I decided to go with the power weapons as I figure the best defence is making the enemy model unable to attack (by killing them first!) rather than trying to nullify their attacks with slightly better armour.
This also means I can replace 1 of the power swords with a brazier of holy fire for extra cc goodness before I charge!
The problem you have there is that acolytes are initative 3, they will rarely strike first.
Acolytes are cheap ablative sheilding!
Personally, I often go the 'cheap' route, and bolters are very cheap.
