how the heck do you beat 4 carnifexes that your friend has
Some strong firepower and power weopons and shear force of numbers will make them crumble, if your gettting 16 attacks to his what 3, 4 ,5 attacks a cople are bound to wound.
To do the bidding of the god of decay death and corruption is to be rid of all things that makes you weak only in return for the control of your soul!
Well, rending weapons come to mind. For the most part though, carnefexs are slow, so simply avoid them, or expliot them, with a fast unit, start headind off in a direction leading them away from what you want to protect, while luring the carnefexs after you, then simply turnbo boost the oposit direction, after they move the opposet way from your main force. This is similar to the movement tactica now being combiled, i suggest you read it. Its the top tread in this formus.
For a simpliar optoin, attack bikes with 3 multi meltas could do the jop, but this squad is pretty explesive. Lascannons are also a simple answer to them, but youd need a lot. Also, whats your friend army? does he have anything that can easily hurt 13 armour? if not, a vinicator can really put some hurting on a nid, but this would be the last resort optoin.
Vindicators are better against stealers than a fex. And it really does depend on what type of fex you are talking about... Most fex will be shooty (either 2xTL-Devourer / VC+BS), but there will be some assault based.
Against assault based, it's quite simple: ignore it and kill everything else. Moving at only 6" a turn with a 6" charge range, you can simply get out of its way.
If it's a shooty one, you can't just ignore it as easily. But the question again comes with what biomorphs they have. If it's an elite fex (one has to be if there's 4), it means 4 wounds at T6 with a 3+ save - they can't give the better biomorphs and stay under 115 pts. So that one is easily dropped by missiles.
Against the heavy support bugs, if they've given it the 2+ save, your best bet would be a hidden power fist. The fex will be str9, but will most likely have only 2 attacks... and a WS of 3. Easily killed by a vet sarge with a PF. Just be careful charging it with an IC attached, as it can insta-kill them :/
Of course, rending works on just about anything, too. So those LST's / termi's will drop them pretty fast... And las cannons work on pretty much anything, too.
he has 2 elite fexes and 2 heavy, one elite has two devourers and the other is close combat with toxic miasma, andrenal glands and two sets of scything talons
his heavies are fully upgraded and have guns and crushing claws, totals to about 720
he also has a hive tyrant w/ 3 guards and a brood lord w/ genestealers

In games that large, you can easily take a dev squad or two with 4 ML's to wipe out his elite fex and tyrant w/ guard. Then a couple of LST's will destroy his broodlord + retinue and can move on to his heavy support fex. That, combined with an assault squad w/ vet sarge holding a PFist will take them down quickly (them being the HS fex, NOT the broodlord!).
Take a whirlwind or two for his regular units.
Then some terminators with assault cannons and/or dreads with assault cannons can take down whatever they'd like to fire at. Did I mention things with assault cannons? :p
I agree with the assault cannons.
I would take the trait that alows yo uto have two special weapons, and take two plasma rifles in a couple of squads. These will have (when rapid firing) 4 S7 ap2 shots. that will definatly hurt the carnefexes.
One Shot, One Kill
Try an Assult Terminator squad with thunder hammers plus storm sheilds, they should be able to survive to an extent and dish out some damage. You could also try scout squads with sniper rifles.

Stay away form Sniper Rifles. Trust me.
Tactical Squads of 5 with LC and Plasma Guns.
Dreadnought with TLLC and DCCW can lay down the hurt on Fex's, if you get them down to 1/2 wounds then the fist can crush 'em.
Furious Charge Librarian with a Force Weapon.
10 men Tactical squads with hidden powerfists.
Devastoator Squad with 4 Lascannon.
Assault Terminator Squads either in cover for first strike, or charging fex's with furious charge lightning claws will do the dammage.

You wont beat nids hand to hand, a shooty terminator squad isnt bad, but their is much better stuff. The more assault cannons and heavy bolters you have the better, something a nid list cant deal with is 9 torandos for example, they are extreamily difficult to hit in CC, few things have greater then 24 range, with enough strength to be any real threat. And the good news is hes got at least 850 points of slow stuff. Meaning you should be able to take down his faster, stuff first. With 9 torandos, thats, 36 heavy bolter shots, and 45 assault cannon shots. this would run you about 720 points. You can see how his troops could only stand about 2 or 3 turns of this barrage, after that, the assault cannon will wound carnefexs on a 4+ not bad if you have 40 shots on them.
It would be better if you simply put up your army list. peace
