Im all new to the Inperial Guard Universe.
I have gone through a fase of Space Marine to Tau to Orks to Chaos and now to Imperial. I realy like the way that how Imperial are so flexible. I started in the Doctrines page in the codex and thought that it wouldbe a good place to start as I am wantin to make my Army Different and ersonal to the Way I battle. As before When using Imperial Guard I found I was either getting all my men dead becuase thy where all getting hit. And second because of my bad luck i seamed to be missing alot. so I gave them Sharp Shooters and Camoline. Next I thought I'd pad 'em up so I gave then Extra aurmour ( can't remember name) Then I also gave them Hardened Fighters and finnaly the Tech Priest fro the restricted troops section. I have started with Camoline and for that am using mili-put to create capes. The paint sceam I am going to be using is very similar to the Karksian With Catachan Green Aurmour with bleched bone and Dark Angles Green Arrows as the pattern.
I think thats it for noe. Please can u have a look and if I have made any mistakes ( in the Warahmmer bit) then please politley let me know.
Firstly, welcome to LO as well as the fine ranks of the Imperial Guard.
As for your choices I have a few comments. Sharpshooters is an exellent doctrine that makes your guys better shooters which is great for the Guard. Cameleoline is a fine doctrine but not really essential. Carapace armour is too expensive in my opinion and the points could better be used elsewhere. It is up to you though...
Now you choice of Techpriest Engineseers is NOT good. Don't be fooled by their cool looks. They are the most useless unit in the entire IG army and they are a totalt waste of points.
These are my thoughts...
Welcome to LO, I hope you enjoy it here:yes:
I agree with BobaHat on the Tech-preist, it's pretty useless. If you want a restrcited troop go for either Stormtroopers or Roughriders, they are both fairly good at what they do. Although I prefer Ogryns
For your other Doctrines you chose Carapace Armor, camelioline, hardened fighters and sharpshooters. Those are all fine, but don't put them all on one squad, that will shoot the price up to over 100 points a squad...but I'm sure you knew that.
Carapace is handy in some cases, but it has a static cost that can drain points fairly fast because you HAVE to put it on all your squads if you take it. But, on the plus side it will give you a save against those nasty bolters and pulse rifles.
I've never personaly used Camelioline before because we don't use much terrain here (We only have a small 4x2 table here). I'd only recomend taking it if you plan on using plenty of terrain to take full advantage of the added cover save. Also, you should drop either this or carapace as you HAVE to take both if your using them...and that is a major point sink.
The rest looks good, I use sharp shooters on my heavy weapon squads and that works very nicely. Especialy since I roll alot of ones
Hope this helped
Good luck, and welcome to the Guard!!
as said, techpriests aren't worth squat, don't go for the sanctioned psykers, or priests either.
someone who likes ogryns? lol... i prefer rough riders and maybe xeno riders, but they're best used for one-use lance counter-charge on the line squads.
although recently i've just decided to take my points in them and plug them back into heavy weapon squads and veteran squads.
anyways, don't go with both cameleoline and carapace armor. carapace armor because you should be spending the majority of your infantry time in cover anyways, and cameleoline because it's probably much wiser to spend those points just for more bodies anyways.
sharpshooters is good, but best kept to heavy weapon squads where the shots will matter, compared to a squad of lasguns.
and hardened fighters, i'm guessing you're assault-oriented (i missed seeing this doctrine till now), although not for the upgrade suited for most IG, i don't use it but i've surmise how it could be used, and i'd say mainly in one two squads that were designated to hold against assaults, it won't be much but i guess it helps.
your guys sound like they are a little too expensive, maybe take a few things out cause remember IG needs to have numbers, but definately keep the sharpshooters. My men have it and it works good for me.

I use a squad of 6 in a Chimera and hey get 13 S6 attacks on the charge and have 18 wounds between them.
Anywho...Back on topic. I recomend writing out somf fluff, and then seeing what doctrines would go best with that.

I have to disagree there.give them the wargear item that basicly turns them into a senior afficer and then give them a force waepon.then see how aeffective he is.
wow. now that was interesting

that is a bit of an idea, i usually use mine on either my hq or on a rough rider vet sgt. i just don't like the psyker due to his random abilities and that he has to be placed with your hq command squad, unless you get other psykers so you can go into another command squad, or maybe a stormtrooper squad.
as for the combo of honorifica mundanus and a force weapon, maybe in a platoon command squad and for use as a counter-charge unit. i, personally, try not to involve the command hq unless necessary in counter-charges on the line as to protect the higher leadership and standard bearer or in some people's cases a master-vox.
its not as much the fact theyll die instant deaths (though my ig army will shoot you chimera up then as the ogryns pop out buched together battle cannon target)Originally Posted by Gandhi
its the fact that they dont have any great movement(fleet, bike ,blood rage,12" charge)so there only option is a chimera (which we all know isnt that strong) and they will get shot up before they get to combat(especially by fire warriors)
but lets not go starting and ogryn thread
hardened fighters is one of the worse things you can take.
the points you spend just to HIT better is rediculious

Thanx u lot,
looks like im going to have to change a few things on my (hopeful) army list,
i'm not sure what to have instead of a techpriest ( i thought they were like TechMarines and could repair veachals) and I have never liked the look of rough riders it would look loads better if they looked more like cadian or if they were even on motorbikes not horseys.
Thanx for the replies.
