Im knew to the daemonhunters and I was wonderin' how effective they were in battle...I know their stats but I would like someone with experience with them ot contribute
"Kill a thousand men, and they will hate you. Kill a million men, and they will queue to face you. But kill a single man, and they will see monsters and devils in every shadow. Kill a dozen men, and they will scream and wail in the night."
- Zso Sahaal, Talonmaster of the Night Lords
In a word: Yikes! :ninja:
They're essentially a blend of standard termies and assault termies, plus extras.
They've got Ld 10, they're fearless, they have built-in psyker resistance (The Aegis), they have a pseudo-nightfight rule that can really screw with long range shooting (The Shrouding), and they have power weapons that hit at initiative 4 (like assault termies) but hit at Strength 6 (like standard termie powerfists... not quite so good, but still splatters marines on a 2+). They have all that assault power, but they still carry Storm Bolters, and they get Psycannons (Heavy 3, S6, AP4, no Invulnerable saves - not quite Assault Cannons, but still deadly)
Now, you already knew all that, right? what it all boils down to is that they can still hurt stuff at range (psycannons = ), and once they get in close, they pour out plenty of attacks at Marine Initiative (4) that usually hit on 3+ and kill outright on a 2+.
I've personally had my Grand Master with 5 termie bodyguards get charged by a maxxed unit of Sisters Repentia only to annihilate all the Repentia before they ever got to attack. The same generally applies to powerfist Termies, as you'll usually overwhelm their invulnerable save with enough hits to wipe out the unit. Be careful of high Initiative troops though - the biggest advantage of GK termies is their high initiative attacks, but if they've got to weather a few rounds of attacks they'll go down to attrition just like any other troops.
Overall, though, all Grey Knights are scary in Assault, and Terminator armor only makes them tougher. They're not going to carry the whole game, but with the right application, they can inflict psychotic damage to almost anything. Given the choice, a GK hero with a retinue is usually the most powerful way to field these bad boys. (IMHO)
[EDIT:] Oh yeah, they make good light tankhunters in a pinch, too. AV 12 and less, be afraid! those 6's will come up eventually...

GK terminators are probaly the most dangerous of all terminators ( although chaos comes very close ) for all the reasons mentioned already but they come at a hefty cost and they are still just as vulenrable as any other termie to any AP1/AP2 weapons on the battefield.
IMO Daemonhunters are a bit too powerful, don't get me wrong they are a good force, I've only beat them once and they are coolest army in the Imperium.
I dont think deamon hunters are too powerful, sure the are excellent in close combat, but they cost a heck of a lot of points. Also they have a minimal amount of anti-tank fiepower.
they are good, but they definatly aren't over powered.
One Shot, One Kill
S'pose the points make up for it.
The only army that should be afraid of Deamonhunters per se, would be a troop and Demon heavy Chaos army. Like Blue Wave said, unless you have a lot inducted IG, or 3 Dreads, Deamonhunters don't field a lot of anti-tank.
