well i have never played another army besides space marines (dark angels, black templars, iron warriors) and they just seem unbeatable, with my orks at least. And the new black templar rules are pretty overpowered. Does anyone know any weakness to the space marines besides teh obvious ones (small squad size, large point cost) Also, if not Orks, what army could i use to counter marines. I was thinkin mabye Necrons?
Space marines are one of the armies I usually come close to beating (and have beaten before) with my orks.
Orks eat marines for breakfast in cc. You have more attacks and reduce their precious save to 4+, what more do you want?
If you have never beaten them it must be because you are not engaging them. Try putting all your orks in vehicles and racing down the table, the marines only have so many anti-tank weapons, they can't shoot everyone.
I agree, thier is no reason why you cant beat him with orks. Just get them into cc and let em have it. Get thier as fast as possible. Just mess around with different tactics. you will find a way.

i have a warrtruk, 3 killa kans, 35 boyz, warbbos and a couple of nobz in mega armor or so and black templars rape orks in assault with the new vow where they hit on a +3.. and my orks usually are mostly mowed down and finished off in assault because of their low initative (even with power of the waagh we attack at the same time) so what strategies should i imploy without making more purchases
This is is slightly off-topic... but I was under the impression that the new black templar rules were less powerful than the old ones. (this is based purely on what I've heard people say, I didn't know the old black templar rules and I don't know the new ones)

I would say with an army that small get rid of the mega armour nobs and make 9 of the boyz trukk boyz, then put them in the trukk with the boss. Then divide the rest of your boyz into two slugga mobs led by a nob with a power klaw and a choppa each. Mega armour slows down the whole mob. Put the killa kanz in front of the boyz and run down the field with the trukk behind. When you get close enough barrel the trukk around the side at the same time as you swamp one of his units with kanz and boyz all at once. If you are still having trouble (you shouldn't be) ram the boss and the trukkers into the fight too. Gang up on his units one by one and you will win. In a game as small as that (what is it, 500 points?) he should have about 15 models (I'm exaggerating but you get the idea.) Attacking at the same time is good. You should still win if you outnumber him.
I made the same mistake of having a retinue for my warboss when I started with orks. It only works well in games of 2000 points or so. Trust me nobs with a warboss is a HUGE disadvantage in small games. I was playing a 1500 against guard once and our club champion came over, looked at my army and said "Cool army. One question though... what's with the "gigantic all your eggs in one basket" squad?" I never used my nobs again after that (this guy never loses), and my games got alot better instantly.
But really you need either more boyz or more wheels to put em in (Y)
That's my suggestions, the other bosses will no doubt have good ones too.

The worst thing I have run into so far are Eldar Star cannons. 3 shots each. And MAN do they hurt! Even in power armour. And when mounted on Vypers they are almost impossible to aviod.
no theyre actully better, much better. At least teh empror's champion can't use two handed sword (whcih killed a warboss w/ 2 wounds in 1 hit) anymore. But the vows have been overall gayer, the initates are one more point (big deal) and u can have mix squads and up to 20 members (10 initates, 10 neophytes) Thats the size of a madboyz squad! And the emprors champion has 6 weapon skill and costs less! He has the same weapon skill as Abbadon the Despoiler which makes no sense at all
To answer your bit Xiahou Dun, the new vows are supposed to be a bit more rational and some scaled down. Though not having had a proper look at them means I can only base what I say on what I've heard. (or actually what I've read)
HavenDan, you have 35 boyz but what kind are they? slugga boyz should be able to take out two or three marines when they fight, especially if you get double initiative and go at the same time. If your running your boyz up the field, and theres only a small distance to cover, then max your squads out to auto-pass the power of the waagh as long as 12 of them make it into combat. (and when many of those marine variants lack heavy weapons and the range of bolters over their bolt pistols, you will not be facing tons of losses a turn.)
With what you said you have, take one squad of twenty, one of fifteen and run them up the board. Take the boss and nobz and throw them in the truck, maybe one or two power klaws between all the nobz, and run that up the board. finally get your kans as seperate slots, arm one with a rokkit and the other two with bog shootas and hammer the marines. Forces priorities for the marine player, since he has to go after each kan, both large mobz, and the trukk thats right in his face. (keep the trukk behind as much cover as possible before the guys inside jump out and charge, so they get hull down and have a lesser chance of getting destroyed...)

There all slugga, and i have 16 unassembled boyz. That is a good strategy but im not sure about its effectivness (ive tried it before and assault squads deep striked and used melta bombs to destroy kans then rest of horde was extremly vunerable to fire) What i was thinking was switching to snakebites (rather then codex) squads of 20 madboyz w/ the pigdok (who in eseense is a combo of a mad dok and mekboy, or in space marine terms techpriest and apothecary) then gettin 3 more nobz in mega armor w/ some trukk boyz with burnas and a warboss and work from there.
