I wanted to have some rather distinct looking Stormtroopers. I was thinking of using the Cadian Torso, Head and Arms. However, the legs of a Cadian are obviously not armored enough.
As I was looking through my bits, I saw a pair of Tau Firewarrior legs, and a crazy idea hit me.
If I were to put the boots from a standard Cadian onto a set of Firewarrior legs, and then plant the Cadian torso on top, would that look right?
I thought the amount of armor on the legs would even be appropriate since a Firewarrior and a Stormtrooper have the same save.
Emperor have mercy on those who stand against me, for I shall not.
It seems a lot of work and expense overall to use 2 plastic figures to generate a single stormtrooper?Originally Posted by MisterH
Personally I'd look at using either Kasrkin or OH stormtroopers with a varied uniform scheme.
Or even just look at making small change to the ordinary Cadian lasguns and counting the existing flak armour as carapace by virtue of it incorporating different materials and giving it a specialist paint job, you could paint the gaiters on the boots as armour to represent leg armour?
Only an idiot fights a war on two fronts. Only the heir to the throne of the kingdom of idiots would fight a war on twelve fronts.
I think it would be easier to use cadians and then make the extra armor by using green stuff. It would be very cheap to pump out 20 storm troopers that way. The modeling would also be unique to that of other armies stormtroopers.
I'd go with this one, simply for the cost benefits.. Let's do a normal 10-man squad, shall we?Originally Posted by bloodinferno
$40 for the metal, not easily converted, Kasrkin models.
$70 for the two boxes of Cadian Shock Troopers and Tau Firewarriors, getting 10 Cadians and 2 Firewarriors back out.
$45 for the plastic, easily converted Cadian Shock Troopers and some green stuff, getting 10 Cadians back out.
I'd go with the last option, myself, unless I played Tau; but even then, two Firewarriors (and two Gun Drones) wouldn't be worth it to me. I'd go for the GS; you can make the carapace armour however you want, thicker armour or even plates of stuff, masks, etc.
i dont know about the fire warrior legs, they would look wierd because they wouldnt have ankles.... they would just have boots nailed onto their feet. if you really want unique stormtroopers, mail order some of the really old plastic ones, the ones that looked like german soldiers from WW II, they actually are kinda cool.
yeah i had the same idea and there is a cheap way of getting them to http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefr...137&orignav=10
if you go there and look for tau they will sell you the legs sprew seperatly so look around you might find better weapons too....
no the ones im talking about are even older than those, like 3rd edition old. they were for back when all the heavy weapons came on wheels. they might be archive models.Originally Posted by Lost Nemesis
