Some say sharpshooters pays for itself.
Some say it is worth far more for more boots on the ground.
Obvously its worth it for heavy weapon squads.
But what about the normal grunts, giving our infantry too many little perks will retract from the their overall strength, the low point cost.
For we must remember that we will never be space marines.
But the question of sharpshooters is at hand........

IMO S.S. is worth it on HW teams, but certainly not on Troop Squads. Lasguns are Lasguns, it isn't a big deal if they hit a little more.
If you have two Platoon with Sharpshooter, you could buy a Lascannon sentinal and smoke instead.

the thing is you have hws and special weapons in your inf squads.(well at least i do...)
and i love to rub in the fact i can re roll ones (because that obliterater squad that rolled 3 ones was hilariously)

It's just not worth it for line squads, but it probably WOULD be if they let you re-roll your plasma guns!
not so much worth it for line squads, but sometimes i'll do it just for fluff or for the hell of it. It can be fun, and sometimes putting it on line squads has actually saved my ass...for tournament play though, only on the HW squads.

I use it on both heavy weapons and Platoon HQ. I usualy use a heavy bolter and 2 grenade launchers in HQ so I figure why not:tongue:
I always take this doctrine because I roll an amazing amount of ones. More so then your probably thinking. My frist game ever I rolled 26 ones in the first round alone. After that, I vowed to take sharpshooters ALWAYS. But I still don't stick it in my line squads...to costly.
when you think about it, all it does is make it more likely than the nasty marine is going to fail an armour save, okay, so that's not much in the long run, but if you've actually got more than 2 guys in a squad hitting (law of averages - without calculations) then that's more than 2 chances of failing a roll. I say give it to your line troops, because it may save your behind.
Plus, who wouldn't want to roll another 3 dozen (slight exageration) dice every turn, just to see the look on the other guy's face
