Hey, I've got a 10-man scout squad, the standard bp+ccw config. I just happen to have an extra SM model with bp/pfist, been thinking about making the scout SGT a vet and pumping him up with term honors, power armor, powerfist. Mainly b/c I'm lazy and I dont have a scout model that's tricked out with a pfist and don't necessarily want to convert one. Whaddaya think about springing for the power armor?
Unfortunately for you, you can not purchase power armor from the space marine armoury. You can purchase Artificer Armour although, but this is a big price sink, that's made for special characters not scout sgts.
Giving you Scout sarge a plasma pistol and/or power fist isn't such a bad idea, considering they can make use of these items faster than a normal foot Marine Sgt. since they automatically have the infiltrate ability.
I have had great experience with a CC scout squad and power fisted Sarge, works great on tyeing up weaker mobs and such.
Also take into consideration that if you take a power fist with your scout sarge you now have the option to tackle high toughness or high Armour value tanks, in an emergency situation. Just don't go hunting a C'Tan with that single fist, you just might get creamed.......OK you'll get CREAMED.
The guilty laugh while the innocent suffer.............WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!!!
Well considering you cant actually buy power armor. I think its a bad idea. You technically CAN give them artificer armor, but thats a LOT of points to waste on a sergeant.
I say yes to the fist, but no to the armor.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
Ah, guess I'm still thinking 3rd (or 2nd?) edition rules where there was an actual point value for buying powered armor.
And I agree, I won't be dumping artificer armor on a scout.
Guess I need to start cutting.
Just remove the shoulder pads on the none powerfisted hand. It looks pretty cool, and remember the Vet sgt was once a member of the first copmany, who selflessly joined the scout company to train new warroirs for the chapater. He will look almost like a scout, except the powerfist arm will help him stand out. I have a model just like this, it looks great. Also remember, without the shoulder pads, a marine looks almost the same as a scout. Just make sure hes not wearing a helmet. One last thing, He may infact be wearing powerarmour, but as the magority rules for armour saves, it wont matter, untill hes a lone model. by this point no one will care if hes techinacally in powerarmour, so simply include no point cost for it, and treat it as 4+ armour.
I'm not sure if you can have a scout sgt with power armor, but I know my scout sgt is pretty good in CC mostly because I use my scouts to tie up units for other things to come around, or hold the teleport homer for the termies to drop down in front of a squad of "defenseless" scouts.
if your going to upgrade the sarge, i would definatly have a plasma pistle and fist.
