I'm really really sorry as I'm sure this has been covered before, but I'm in a bit of a rush and don't have time to search.
What are the rules on allies? In the 2nd ed it was 25% of your army, but what is it now? One unit? I can't find the rules anywhere, either in Codex SM or the rule book.
Also, who can ally with SM? Can you use other chapters units in your army?
Sorry for being a pain!
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.
As far as I'm aware, there aren't any general allies rules. All that I know of are from the various orders of the Inquisition. Demonhunters and Witchhunters both are allowed to ally with or induct Space Marine or IQ units (they may also ally amongst themselves), with a few limitations on how this is done. Pick up the codex for one of those two armies and take a look. It's fairly straightforward.
You can also use two FOCs in a game. I really don't know how well that'll go over with your opponents however. Personally, I'd be more receptive to adopting the allies rules from the *hunter lists and just use them for a different army. Of course, that would be -completely- house ruling it.
You might want to look at the doubles tournament rules (pdf file). It includes a list of what are considered ideal armies for allies.
It would be a useful guide if you intend to use house rules for allies outside of Daemon/Witch hunters.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
I know that allies cannot be one of the two manditory troop choices or one hq.
ie: You have to fill those spots first with Space Marines before you get allies.
