Marines at the movies - death and glory

OK so Sunday GW invited all the people that have helped the hoby for the last year to Warhammer world and let us lose (and people say they are tight - free dinner, free drinks, free minced pies and danish and a certificate thanking us for our work)

One of the things on was a game entittled "Marines at the Movies" basically linked missions involving a marine tac squad, but no normal marines - these came from a US WD article that didnt make the final cut, each marine is an IC, stats, 5 accross the board except LD 10, W2, A3, Bolters? all bolters are range 36 Str6 Assault4 rending, all marines have power weapons, missile launchers are assault, the sgts bolt pistol is as per bolter but range 24 and his chain sword is a power weapon with rending.

Against them - roughly 1800 points of nids, all nid units are subject to endless tide!. I played in the second mission, we only had one marine each, we were lkooking to find a cripled nid beastie, to find it we had to move into a terrain feature (there were 6 large woods) and roll a 6, once a piece of terrain had been searched it could not be searched again, really nasty but very enjoyable, my one mraine took down 2 tooled up carniflexes, 2 zoanthropes a ravenor and countless hoards of genestealers and gaunts of varrious siuzes and descriptions.

Unfortunatley the rest of the team found the creature at the opposite end of the 6 foot table myself and another guy were on and due to some rather lucky reserves roles for the endless hoard, got themselves wiped out, myself and the other guy had to make our way accross the table, fighting the entire nids army to retrieve the beast, we almost made it, I was about 4 inches away when I was dragged down by the combined weight of a third carniflex (which I put 2 wounds on) and a 9 strong genestealer brood and lord, my oppo, inches behind me promptly got mobbed by the entire nids army, he solved the problem by dropping a super frag (range 6, str 8 blast) at his feet, killing hoards of them but taking himself out, absolutley excellent fun, marines as they should be!

Everything you have been told is a lie!

    Sounds great!

Fluffwise this sound more "real" than the normal rules.

Great ending, credit to that guy for keeping in character

Yep, those rules are scary. My mates and I had a game with a ten man 'movie' tac squad versues 1500pts. Needless to say, the 1500pt army got smashed
