I mean, why would you want your Guardsman to get close to the enemy when they suck at close combat?
Oook, this has been the topic of discussion many many times here on LO.
But, I know your new so I'll be nice:yes: There's a search button up on the top bar that can be used to search for questions or topics your curios about.
Anyways, I think the Chimera is worth it. Many don't, but many do...It's a matter of opinion. You don't have to use the Chimera to rush to the frontlines, and I often use them for a completely different mission. Getting my troops away from CC units, or perforiming flanking maneuvers on enemy armor and such.
There are two reasons to buy Chimeras:
For mobility of special squads that should get close to enemy troops: Stormtroopers, Command Squads with lots of Special Weapons, Special Weapon squads with same (or a Demolishion Charge ) and or even err........Ogryns ( only if you want to! ...sorry Ghandi! ). Mobility is something that Guard lacks, and can be important for capturing objectives etc.
For being a pretty good light tank on its own: Equipped with a turret Multilaser, Hull Hb and a Stubber, you get 9 x 36" shots for 100pts (with smoke) that can move and shoot. Av12 is good, and when you have Leman Russes on the board, these tend to be left alone.
I love Chimeras personally.

Well, you may be putitng you rmen closer to the enemy, but if your using a Chimera correctly, your also getting them closer to the objective. Chimeras provide an elemt of mobility not normally found in the Imperial Guard, and as such, can be very important in a lot of games.
Some people also like to use there Chimeras as firing platforms; with the ability to put off 9 good strength shots (Turret ML or HB, hull HB, and Heavy Stubber) they can function near as well as a fire support team, while providing much more mobility.
Hope this helps
Sorry to make this again.... Now I feel....
Allright thanks for all the help and especially dealing with me this first day.
I love Chimeras too, in my Demon Hunters force, too bad it was packed with ISTs which i might add did nothing the game . .anyways shooting so many damn times often wiping out whole squads of possesed-my oppenents only CC threat, was vital for my Grey Knights to bust through a thousand sons squad unmolested.Originally Posted by Diggums Hammer
The people at GW have told me that you are allowed to put a Autocannon in place of the multilaser. Anyone know about this? It's not in my Codex.
I belive it's in one of the Imperial Armor books, and, if not there, it's probley in the Chapter Approved book.
Its in Imperial Armour. The turret can mount an autocannon for five more points than a multilaser. An interesting upgrade, if you ask me.
And Slick: You easily have the most disturbing icon and sig I've ever seen. Truly unnerving....

Haha, at least you mentioned those poor poor Ogryns:rolleyes:Originally Posted by Diggums Hammer

As for Autocannon turrets, there's another thread somewhere on the second page of the IG forum that talks a little in depth about that option...Maybe you should check it out and get some info on it:yes:
