    A Kill Team Composition Question

I just installed AB3.1 and I thot I'd see if the Kill Team implementation was any more complete. And, yes, it looks to be 99% done. Cool

So I started to put together a Space Wolves Kill Team.
Just a few Grey Hunters, but, when I added a Pack Leader I got a red flag.
Mutable Rule 1 has been broken!
Rule 1 says all members must come from the same unit entry.
Hmmmm. OK, the Pack Leader is a Wolf Guard and an Elite.
    So maybe that's right.
Then I tried standard Space Marines.
Just the default Tac squad with a Sergeant.
    And still a red flag.
I guess the Sergeant breaks rule one.
But I can't delete the him.
A Tac squad HAS to have 1 Sarge + X marines.
So, there is no way to field a SM Kill Team without breaking rule one.
Hmmmm. Does that sound right to you?
Shouldn't it be possible to make a Kill Team that is legal for both the army codex rules AND the kill team rules??

Just seems odd to me. What do you think?

i have never read the SM dex but i beleive the error could be in not law one but the law that requires only one wound models.

I would ignore it though, me and my pals always allow a multi woulnd hero

    No it's not wounds.
The Wolf Guard Pack Leader has only 1 wound.
And for the standard SM tac squad the sergeant only has one wound.

So rule 2 is not being broken.
    It is definitely rule 1.

The fault lies with you for your first try, and with the program for the second attempt. If the pack leader is from a separate unit, that's rule 1, plain and simple.

The Tactical Sergeant does not, in any way shape or form violate rule 1. Unless he's the 2nd one in the squad. In fact, removing him is a definite violation of rule 2, that the unit's normal restrictions (save for minimum unit size) must be followed. (the rulebook example is that since a Grey Knight squad must include a Justicar, he MUST be taken. Same deal for the Sergeant.)

Even if you make him a Veteran Sergeant, he's still part of the same unit entry. I'd say ignore that particular warning.

Your error was in using army builder in the first place.

That program has never worked properly and most likely never will.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:

    1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant

    2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers

    3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC

Hmmmm. I have been using Army Builder for about 2 years now. And I have found it to be fairly accurate and complete. We use it for Space Wolves, Imperial Guard, Eldar and Tau. The few errors I have found were easily fixed with the editor that comes with the data file authoring kit.

And the data file developers do respond to bug reports.

but MUTABLE rules mean you can change them,
so yeah, you may field a pack leader,

plus, since the sarge is part of a marine squad, it shouldn't give a red flag on that one. You could even give him terminator honours and still keep it legal, since that is a legal option for the sarge according to the codex. More proof that the army builder isn't working properly...

Army Builder does work properly for normal rosters for the standard missions.
Combat Patrol was recently completed and is working correctly.

Kill Team implementation is still a work in progress.
So I do not expect Kill Team to work 100% yet.

The reason for my question was to make sure I was interpreting the Kill Team rules correctly before posting a bug report for the AB3 data file maintainers.

So, thanks to those that confirmed the Sarge is a required part of a Tac team.
I only do Space Wolves, so I was not sure how that worked for normal Space Marines.

    .......

Hey Wulfbanes, if you are going to mention the United States Marine Corps in your sig, capitalize it and spell it correctly. Show some respect for our country's elites. Thanks.

ok Strava, PM me how to spell it ok, since I can't, and since I'm not from the US I don't mind I spelled YOUR armies elite wrong.
And Still, any Wolf from my country can beat your Marine Corpse guys in a bare-knuckle fight
It;s just that Wolves don't carry guns...note, they do in 40k!
