Question, Why does commisar yarrik have both a laspistol and a storm bolter? Surely the laspistol is pointless.
At a guess, I think that the laspistol gains him the 2 close combat weapons and thus +1 attack, but I'm not sure if the storm bolter would have the same effect.
Also, is he ever worth it? No one seems to include him in a list. He is hard as nails though, I had him in a squad of ogryns to bulk up my numbers and they minced everything they came across.
But it is probabilly 146 points better spent elsewhere...
I use him as a commander/a commisar in my army. I don't use his rules though, but he is one of the best looking models in the Imperial Guard army.
:w00t: Yarrick is awesome. His power claw can take out anything, and with his AMAZING force field he is a cc monster. Unfortunately he can only be used in 1500+, or maybe even 2k+ games. I don't remember which, since this means he doesn't get used much, but every time I get the chance I use him.
I like to stick him in with 50 conscripts, with 5 flamers. That equals a giant, fearless mob led by an invincible leader. Expensive though.
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
As I've said on the IRC channel plenty of times, Yarrick is the most badass character the imperium has access to. Who else could survive having their arm cut off and still fight on to woop ork ass! His power claw is pretty sweet and he's got some other nasty toys for CC as well, like his force field and his laser eye. And for the record, he can be used in 2K armies or higher.
OK. I must be high or something, because I recall deciding a long time ago that he costs almost twice as much as he should. I'll review his special rules, but as I recall, a powerclaw, and an eyeball that hurts a little and...
One in 6 games he gets back up after dieing. woo woo!
Wow! 1 in 6 games he gets an extra wound! Now thats some raw power for ya!
No seriously, I'll take another look at him with an open mind.
But I seem to have a sense of sureness that he's about 65 points too many.
He used to get back up on a 4+. I guess GW thought that they couldnt make a IG better than a Space Marine.
... or a freakin Necron, who have completely re-invented the game with their ability to ignore half the rules.
I donno, If you break him down he isnt so bad. If you tooled up a heroic senior officer with all Yarriks gear from the armour he would total 112 points. (I took away 24 points for the guardsmen that the officer gets)
so for 34 extra points you get fearless, gains an extra attack, better WS, and a whacky forcefield. Doesnt sound too bad.
Says nothing in here about bionics though...
And he used to be T4, shame GW watered him down.
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
well your wrong about thatOriginally Posted by WezAlmighty
you see you cant use a stormbolter and powerclaw in cc. you wouldnt get the extra attack
however the laspistiol allows you to get an extra cc attack for 2 1 handed weapons
