I've always looked at the templars list and have always seen the emperors champion, and everyones raving about how good he is. He didnt seem that good. Now im playing my new templars and he owns anything! out of 4 games hes killed 12 space wolfs, tolled up wolf lord and 3 fire warriors... KOOL. Also hes taken 1 wound over all those games. Im calling for all templar players to post their kill count in their sig.
they emperorĀ“s champion is only in good use when he can make it in CC and since he only has 6" movement he can be easily ignored.
I have some experience in this because the people I play against just move a little away from him and he never sees combat.
I have no idea yet how to get him in CC against more mobile armies.

There's always a Rhino.
These days, of course, he's only getting his inv. save in combat. One battlecannon and it's all over for Mr Choppy.
Good, but not as great as he was.

Ya he isnt as good so i have heard, he cant use the sword as a powerfist which sucks because that rocked but he still gets some bounuses, i think he still gets plus two str or attacks or something like that.
To do the bidding of the god of decay death and corruption is to be rid of all things that makes you weak only in return for the control of your soul!
As an opposite: I played black templars 3 times, and in all3 games that champion never made it into combat...
So for me: 3 emperor's champion kills

So far I've only had one game with my Templars, however my Champion did just fine in that game. The crusader seals helped me control my forward movement a little bit better, and once we reached CC he ended up taking out my opponent's Celexus (the one that goes boom) Assassin. Mind you, it ended up as a trade... but I'm okay with trading one CC badass for another at even points. The only thing that makes the Champion worse than any of the other HQs is that he can't take a Command Squad and a Drop Pod. (Well, that and he's non-optional. Being forced to take 2 HQs in 1000 points is a bit rough.)
all times mine have got into cc. The trick is even is small points 750 or so is having a chappy with ec a large squad of crusaders usually 10+ with ccw. And have 2/3 squads of crusaders as a fire base. All times they have worked well. Dunno though
most of the time I use a big squad of 10 marines with CCW and let the EC join them. I think itĀ“s now more worthwhile to let him footslog because you get a kind of FOF.
