I was wondering what would be the best option for DH to be an assault army like black templars or khorne
Take 2 squads of Stormtroopers in Rhinos, charge them forward, disembark and use teleport homers to rain down the pain. 3 maxed out squads of FAGK and a Grand Master with retinue. Just leave them(at least the FAGK) with their basic equipment. Incinerators and Psycannons might be tempting, but each one you take means you're losing a Strength 6 NFW. You could put 2 weapons in the Terminator squad(1 on GM and 1 in retinue) since they only replace their Stormbolters and Terminators don't have True Grit anyway.
Also, you could take a combat tooled Inquisitor with Combat Servitors and some assassins to add some punch(not that you need it).
Uh, "DH assault army" is a bit redundant.
So true, as any other use of DH is stupid and wasteful.
'Assault DH Inquisitor,' however, is oxymoronic. Inquisitors are crap in CC and can get squashed by most opposing HQs. Unless you're killing daemons with 'em. Then they don't look so wimpy...
Inquisitors are only good for daemon-hunting and Teleport homers. Otherwise they're useless. Stick to GK and ISTs for this army.
A man's at odds to know his mind, for his mind is aught he has to know it with.
I think the shooty inquisitor is almost a must for the assaulty Daemon Hunters. Making a CC inquisitor typcially is a bad idea, but if you take the lord, with three heavy weapons and a psycannon you can poor out so many shots a turn that the opponent tries to take care of this unit quickly (diverting fire from the Grey Knights) and the unit is nearly invincible in cover because they never need to fall back, and can have 9 wounds that get cover saves before you even start to lose effectiveness.Originally Posted by JustikarYuri
I know this is an assaulty thread, but the Inquisitor is worth much more than just teleporting GreyKnights on to the field.
That's not true. For one thing, it's entirely possible to make a DH army with no Grey Knights, and Storm Troopers aren't especially impressive in assault. And while Grey Knights rock in assault, they also have storm bolters, the best standard ranged weapon of any basic troop in the game.Originally Posted by JustikarYuri

I do not criticize. I do not offend. All I offer is my opinion which means only as much as you make it.
Inquisitor Lord w/bolt pistol, power weapon: 3 + 1 (two weapons) + 1 (charge) = 5Originally Posted by LordCreampuff

3 Warriors w/bolt pistol (or equivalent), power weapon: (1 + 1 (two weapons) + 1 (charge)) x 3 = 9
5 + 9 + 9 = 23
What makes this work is that WHs can purchase power weapons for fewer points than we DHs, meaning their acolytes can get two weapons INCLUDING a power weapon, while we can get EITHER a single power weapon OR we can equip two weapons.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

While it is true that storm bolters do rock, GK's are a total waste of points if you don't get them into CC. In a stand and shoot scenario its not quality that counts so much as numbers and its hard to field any significant number of GK's. If you want a shooty DH army you need inquisitors, IST's and inducted Imperial Guard. No one should ever take GK's with the intention of making them "shooty".
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
