I was looking through some old White Dwarfs last night and I saw the article about Deathwatch marines and a battle report of IG vs Nids where the DW unit did outstandingly well. Does anyone out there use DW marines or even know what I am talking about? The WD issue is the one of the two issues with the new Nids on the cover.
...and you will know my name is the lord, when I strike down my vengence upon thee...
I know which White Dwarf you mean.
For deathwatch, a friend of mine uses them and kills alot with them actually almost always earning more points than they cost. Myself on the other hand have found it difficult too use such troops.
That's because I'm more of a point, run, charge, roll a drooling amount of dices kind of guy.
But they definatly have a place in a army, somewhere...I hope
I just read that battle report last night. They are be incredibly useful, but they are expensive, point wise. Just got to be careful how you use them, they are basically going to be armed for both combat and shooting.
True grit, and special ammo and heavy bolter for ranged.
Character, and possible light claws/ vet srgt with powerfist for combat, so you have to pick a roll for them to accomplish, and then choose another roll once that is done.
They are a precision strike unit and not the end all be all marines, even if they looked it in that battle report, lol.
He's coming for you...
Which WD was the Deathwatch featured in?
I reject your reality and substitute me own!
I believe it was 306.
Yea it was a sweet battle report, DW are expesive but they killed like 2.5 time their points that battle or something, only thing to survive the swarm if i remember correctly.
He's coming for you...
The Death Watch are amoung my favorite models out there. They are tough as nails and can dish it out at range or in close. However they cost alot of points if you kit them out like Owen Rees did. I believe that the DW unit was over 300 points. I could be wrong though. I use them in games against xenos just to be fluffy and they always perform well. Except for that time they all got killed by starcannons in the first two turns. But they had bent that eldar player over and spanked him all across the board last time so I can't really blame him for atomizing them the second time around.
