why did you choose to collect imperial guard?
played Eldar, nice weapons, strength and toughness 3 *****ed me off, played Necrons enjoyed kicking everybodys ass, got bored. Decided to start a new army, wanted lots of firepower, IG or Tau, Tau look gay so IG.
but ig are strength and toughness 3!!!
so why was it different this time?
Plus the fact that Necrons have no individuality to them, like conversions and that since there options are set in stone. Where as I can customize my IG to whatever opponant ( like taking flamers ). I like converting to, and with the ***** load of extra parts I got, its a dream come trueOriginally posted by 311@Nov 23 2003, 14:57
wanted lots of firepower
I chose Guard becuase when I started the game, I knew at least one person that played each other army. The only thing left was either Guard or Dark Eldar, and I happened to pick Guard.
I picked 'em coz they're the dregs, i mean a guardsman isn't likely to ever win a CC against a marine or something, so when they do it's great.
I just like themed armies and the IG are the only one I can make a little like the A Team
Guns. I paly nids and I barly shoot I get lieka wound a shooting phase.
No armor. I hate Marines cause you cna always blame there wins on there armor.
Numbers. I am pretty good with number armies
Themes and charactors. Face it IG charactors are bad ass

Getting my first Cadian stuff really soon. I'm choosing the IG because they are kickass in appearance and I love numerical values if you get what i'm saying.
I started back in the beginning of 2nd edition and well... The only reason I picked IG is because A. The old metal Cadians were kick-ass and B. I thought tanks were more or less unique for IG. It's kinda funny, really... I didn't want to paint a horde army (as I had an orc army for WHF so it's kinda safe to assume I actually picked the wrong army. I was also terribly tired of painting green... WHFB orcs n goblins, BB orcs... I wanted to play 40k orcs, but I couldn't bear doing another "primer black, basecoat goblin green, shade with green wash"-model.
Then I bought Gorka Morka...
But I stuck to the IG as I like the appearance. It's all about the models. (Mordian and Cadian, with some plastic cadians mixed in)
I played epic, it was a blast to see the tanks chewing there way through a battle field. Since then I've given into the whole third-reich look and paint schemes. Nothing like a universe full of genocidal trench-coat wearing fanatics with tanks and a strong desire to whack people for being different. Yeah, call me a nazi, call me a fool, but it's just a game, except when I rule. Heh, that rhymes. Anyway, Ig have been far to inspired from history to be ignored by the educated player, especially with the use of Latin and old German terms for regular items and units.
*Fart* "Keep talking sir, we'll find you!"
