I need some help to set up my deathwing master. What else would be good to give him other than him already having the Sword of Secrets and a Stormbolter? He will either arrive via deepstrike or ride along with his command squad in a Land raider crusader. He will be for a 1850 or 2000 point list. Thanks in advance.
Maybe an adamantine mantle- he will be really pricey but cannot suffer instant death which makes him really deadly when combined with sword of secrets (this will enable him to take on just about anybody and win).
Also a lion helm bearer would be cool, but I believe it only works against shooting.
A mantle is indeed a good option...
Or you could choose to switch him for a librarian (storm bolter, force weapon, mantle), and deep-strike him in with his command squad (drop pod's a good bet here). Combined with the power Fear of the Darkness you have a very powerful force. I have had some really good results with this kit
"I have died a thousand deaths, and I will die a million more..."
But what if I want to put a Grand Master and the Librarian in the same force (1850+)?Originally Posted by Rogue-Angel
Whoever is likely to be the most aggressive of the two (probably the librarian) they are better served with the mantle so they can use it to best effect (i.e by not getting squished by wraithlords, powerfists etc) so it will return its points in a defensive kind of way.
What if I take the Grand master (with what set up) and a Librarian (with what set up) and put them with a command squad (with two assault cannons and the other two PF/S in a land raider crusader? How would you out fit the grand master and the librarian and even any changes to the command squad? Maybe pushing that far for what I'm asking for will help. Thank you for your advice in advance.Originally Posted by The_Outsider
In your thread with your army list I posted a way to have the hardest command squad SM can get, it saves points (i.e your librarian doesn't need a command squad), it is absolutely devastating against hard enemies and swarm armies don't like it much either- check it out.
Is this what you are talking about for the squad?Originally Posted by The_Outsider
So your saying a Commander/Librarian/and 6 terminators in a crusader? I think I miss read your post. I think a crusader can only hold 8 terminators. If I'm wrong then school me. So in my crusader I will have:
--Grand master- SOS,storm boltertermy armour,stubborn
--Epistolary librarian - Force weapon,storm bolter,termy armour,FOD and FOA
--2X assault cannon/powerfist,stubborn
--4X storm bolter/powerfist,stubborn
--Landraider crusader w/smoke launcer
Grand total - 902 points (WOW!!!!!!)
Just keep in mind that LRC's are NOT transport options for command squads, so you will be unable to deploy the squad inside the LRC at the beginning of the game.
Also, I wouldnt field the above squad in anything short of a 3k game. It eats far to many points up.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
So I Have to deploy the units seperatley and have them embark on my movement phase before they can be transported towards the enemy? I not to familiar with the rules on that, but it does say in the codex it can transport 8 terminators. So being that it would be listed as a heavy support choice then I can't transport my command squad?Originally Posted by Chaosbrynn
