hi guys, would you say bikes in combat patrol would be a good idea, sure you would be outnumbered but superiour toughness and manuverability (and furious charge if you play BA like me) would certainly tip the odds in your favour?
wats your veiws on this?
thanks in advance, Dracon Chax
would never work they are far too expensice for that small a game. You should only have troops and HQ in combat patrol
play assault marines, they clean up in combat patrol. something like this would be good
8x Assault Marines
2 PP Vet Serg w/ PF & BP
5x Tac Marines
PG & ML
5x Tac Marines
PG & ML
Land Speeder Tornado
HB & AC
Thats like 486 and should do prettty well
(I cant remember if combat patrol is 400 or 500 pts, if its 400 then cut the PP and the LST)
Oh, and you should never bring an HQ in combat patrol

Take life seriously, its lethal.
I wouldnt go with bikes in a combat patrol. They are too expensive. Generally. You should consider taking scout bikers though. As BA, they should come in handy in a combat patrol.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
I think Combat Patrol is an excellent size game for trying out all sorts of combinations.
And a good chance to learn how to best use a particular unit.
I mean, if Bikes are all you've got on the table ya kinda have to figure out how to use them, right?
So I would say sure, try out a bike squad.
Or go all bikes if your chapter allows it.
I tried 2 squads of Blood Claw Bikers (4 each)
and 6 Grey Hunters ( as required by Space Wolves)
And the Bikers cleaned up the table.
The GHs kinda sat back and enjoyed the show
I guess if you're going for the max punch for the points and going all out for the win there are lots of units you should not take in Combat Patrol.
But if your just playing for fun (which I think IS the idea behind CP  )
Then heck, try out anything ya want :w00t:
Fear the Wolf !!
Would it maybe be fun to use 5 tac. squad with missile launcher and then use an allout LST army.
Don´t mess with the dicegod
