What do you think is the most effective assassin versus Orks and/or Daemonhunters?
I was going to use the Eversor Assassin but wasn't sure.
How do you use the Eversor Assassin effectively? I am up against another Daemonhunter army tomorrow and thought of using it against his Grey Knights but I wasn't sure wheter it would work out well or not. Strength 6 against my assassin is a worry.
I am also up against orks in that game but wasn't sure wheter to use it against them.
Would you say this assassin is the best choice for this 1500pt game?
Not sure about "most effective" but my personal favourite is the Vindicare..
Want to take out that Justicar? What about that IC hiding behind that unit over there? And that Nob with Power Klaw, he could be dangerous? Look, it's a transport vehicle.. but your Dreadnought is busy shooting at the heavier tanks..
Honestly, the Vindicare is pretty versatile and can (if you get decent rolls) take out a fair amount of points.. a vehicle, the Justicars and hidden Power Fists/Klaws.. etc.
Doesn't get a lot of shots off, but as long as you make those shots count, it shouldn't be difficult to get all you need out of him. Plus, the idea behind them rocks.. and they look spankin' cool.
Well, for facing more deamonhunters and orks i'd have to go with the vindicare assassin also. My favorite is cullidus and eversor BUT they won't be able to take down mobs alone (or any grey knights for that matter).
Of the 4 assassins, I would say only the Vindicare or the Callidus are worth fielding if you don't know who you are going against. And even if you do know still one of the 2.
I don't think the sniper (Vindicare) would be particularly that effective against Orks as they are a swarm army. And against Daemonhunters, you still have to deal with the shrouding defense against GKs (ironically the Vindicare has the exact same defense). Still their ability to pick out a target, any target in a mob is a great one. Just take out the Heavy Weapon guys or leader in a squad. Plus, you can use the special bullets for certain occassions.
The Callidus rocks (my personal fav), but is most effective when used in combination with another cc attack. IMO the thing that really makes her most useful is the fact that she can deploy anywhere without drift AND move AND shoot AND assault in the same turn.
The other perks are not totally useless either. Although you can only hope to stun at best (most likely shaken as the veh prob has extra armor) it still prevents vehicles from firing. That one turn can make or break a squad on the move.
For Orks, the Callidus is probably best, as her Neural Shredder would waste most of squad of Orks, and her CC would finish the rest. She would also be pretty good against Deamonhunters, as she would out initiative a squad, and still kill some with the Shredder. She only has to kill 5 GKs to make her worth her points.
If it is a small game 1200pts or less, the Eversor is also quite good, won't go through 10 GKs, but he'll probably kill 3 or 4, and would be really good vs a shooty Inquisitor Squad. I find in big games there aren't enough good infiltrating places to put him.
Like Lost Nemesis said, the Vindicare would be good against both, but don't count him effective by the points he kills, but rather the points he saves. If he kills 2 Nobs with Power Fists, he will save his points in lost Grey Knights, and will help make the Orks Run away. Same thing vs Grey Knights, killing a couple of Justicars, or Psycannon holding Inquisitors, are help enough.
